Huge push in long sweepers

Need some advise from my 6speeder brethren. Today i noticed more push than usual in long sweeper turns. Or maybe i was hitting the turns wrong, i'm not a pro driver. What should i do to fix this problem? The car is a 997.1 Turbo with Eibach springs. I currently have Tarett rear toe control arms and Wevo mounts that will go in very soon.

Hi Harry Da Hamster,

Here is my recommendations in priority listing.

1- Get an alignment with more negative camber up front.
2- Install Polyurethane Bushings. Powerflex brand is an option.
3- Install a coilover suspension. Note: Most aftermarket coilovers require you to disable the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management). One company that has coilover suspension that works with PASM is Bilstein.
4- Install Front & Rear sway bars with drop links.

You will enjoy a much snappier turn in with a more stable ride with less body roll and greater feedback.

I would also suggest that you remove the lowering springs and install a coilover suspension to get height adjustability better dampening.

Here is are some of the available aftermarket parts with part numbers for the 997.1 platform;

COILOVER SUSPENSION (PASM option)
* Bilstein B16 PSS10 (DampTronic) Coilover Suspension (Comfort Version)
P.N. 49-135817
Notes:
-Front Lowered Height: 25-35mm
-Rear Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Comfort Version with Electronic Suspension (PASM)

* Bilstein B16 PSS10 (DampTronic) Coilover Suspension (Sport Version)
P.N. 49-135985
Notes:
-Front Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Rear Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Sport Version with Electronic Suspension (PASM)

COILOVER SUSPENSION (NON-PASM)
* Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilover Suspension (Comfort) P.N. 48-135887
Notes:
-Front Lowered Height: 25-35mm
-Rear Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Comfort Version

* Bilstein B16 PSS10 Coilover Suspension (Sport) P.N. 48-136013
Notes:
-Front Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Rear Lowered Height: 15-35mm
-Sport Version

Have to disagree with the post above - you’ll potentially go further than you need to and may not be happy with the result. Especially the bushing replacement and coilovers.

I’d dial in as much camber up front as you can on OEM kit, install the GT2RS rear sway bar and test each of the three stiffness settings, and try the DSC suspension controller. If that doesn’t help then consider GT3 control arms up front to get a bit more camber.

Carry the brake a little longer into the turn to keep the front end loaded.

In addition to the Eibach springs currently installed, and the Tarett Rear Toe Control Arms that's on order, i also ordered a GT2 rear sway bar and Tarett front camber plates.

Can anyone advise on an appropriate alignment setting?

One of my buddies experienced the same thing with his 7.1TT on some of our mountain road runs. He got the DSC Module and said it helped a lot. Other than potentially adding that, I think you've got a good start with what you've ordered and already have.

This is what I’m running, works well for me. Ignore the before specs, had new control arms fitted.

If running in normal mode (non sport) there will be more push. Sport mode will reduce the front drive which reduces corner entry understeer. How old are the front tires, air pressure? speed of the sweeper?

Thanks for the replies, fellas. It was in normal mode, factory pressure of 34/40, tires are about 1 1/2 years old with 65% tread life, speed of approx 70mph. This was a regular mountain road, not a track.

Those all sound good. Try Sport mode, it may just be the slight help you need.
