just asking?
thx

I guess we'll see. I just don't see 996's and 997.1 selling as high as they are and a far better performing car like the TTS being sold under those in price.

I know the PDK isn't as desirable as the 6MT, but for folks like me wanting the best performing car, the PDK is the way to go.

Bold opinion warning: in 10 years, the TTS won't be seen as much more special than a .1 Tip with a tune and PCCBs.
i pretty much agree
this why i said a 2012-2013 turbo s cab with decent miles will be worth 60-65k in 3-4 years
they still seem to be in the middle 80's at the moment with 20-25k for miles.

60k miles certainly is not at the top end of a 997.2 in terms of pricing. People often compare a clapped out, high mileage 997.2 against a pristine low mileage 997.1 and mention the price intersection. Nobody mentions the low mileage, well spec’d 997.2 TTSs selling for 6 figures. It’s always the high mileage ones used as a delta.

Agree with the last statement. I came from a 997.1 manual. Also worth noting, no coolant leaks and spun cams.
Also consider the human aspect in this endless debate..., there are many more 997.1 out there so it’s easy for those owners to all keep saying their cars will skyrocket ..strength in numbers.
In the end, I think it’s a manual vs DCT decision. I myself prefer a manual and have driven manuals for 25 years but the performance of a PDK is hard to ignore. Unfortunately, the newer generation doesn’t care as much for the manual so that argument becomes less and less a factor.

Hello first post. Is Tip a non starter? Yes it is cheap and could lose more value but for the
pleasure for owning a 997 TT and not able to afford a 6M, is it a poor alternative?
Jus' askin'.

My opinion, nope. Go drive one first and see what you like. For me, this is a street only car. No track. Already have that covered with another vehicle.

I'm a hard core 3 pedal guy but was impressed with how well the Tip shifts and anticipates up/down/hold shifts. Especially in manual and/or Sport mode on.

I did switch to a PDK steering wheel and that took care of the up/down switch weirdness. Other than muscle memory always wanting to press on the clutch, I don't miss it in this instance.

Thanks. Will do. I prefer a manual but would go with a Tip to get a chance to experience this car.

Well I hope you guys are wrong on the 997.1tt prices going down. I tell you one thing I wouldn’t let my 12,000 mile tt with full red interior go for less then 95k. I’ll just keep it one day it will go up if I keep the miles down.

updated values
August 2018 - cars with 20-40k miles
Manual - $83,800 - 33k mile avg of sample size
Automatic - $71,000 - 33k mile avg of sample size

January 2019 - cars with 20-40k miles
Manual - $86,000 - 31k mile avg of sample size
Automatic - $72,000 - 31k mile average

many asking over $90k for manuals under 30k miles, I took out 3 as data outliers

I think the 6sp prices rising is a halo to automatic cars. 6sp or death

Skwerl will become famous soon enoughSkwerl will become famous soon enough
From what I've seen, prices are only strong on lower mileage cars, with no real "rising tide floats all boats" effect. Once you're up over 50,000 miles or so, they don't seem to sell except for discount bargain prices, regardless of condition, service history, etc.

I've come to terms with the fact that if I ever go to sell my highly maintained 09 6mt coupe with over 80k miles, I'll be looking at low $50s at best. Don't want to be one of those guys bumping a car in the classifieds for 18 months.
