While there’s only a few 997 turbos for sale in the US under $58,000 (most on the west coast), looks like big dealers just slashed their prices. A month ago 997 TTs with 65k-80k mileage were listed for $55-58,000. Now they’re listed in the low $50k’s. What happened?

Huge price drops in these 2, you can see price drop on the listing details. A month ago a 997.1 with 60-80k miles would have been price around $56k

Even this one with only 31k miles is only priced at $56k. A month ago it would have been around $62k or higher for that low of mileage.

Without looking into them any further for condition/accidents/etc., those are all Tiptronics. 6-speeds have held strong by most accounts.

I think you will see the gap between 6 speeds and tips continue to widen.

Time to update my spreadsheet. here's what I have from 2 sample points, I took out 1-2 data outliers. ASking prices on cargurus nationwide

2007-2008
20-40k miles
January 2017
manual avg - $76,500 with 31k avg miles
auto avg - $71,500 with 29k avg miles

August 2018
manual avg - $83,800 with 34k avg miles
automa avg - $71,000 with 34k avg miles

difference between autos and manuals grew

nice spreadsheet Tom - I feel like the Tips can be had in the mid high 50s for nice cars and haven't climbed as much manuals for sure. Too bad they don't list actual selling prices as I bet those are 5k less on average.

Interesting! the clean, documented 6spds are getting harder to find....

Your bottom right mileage number for automatic coupes is most likely set to "currency". You need to change that Good stuff!

So does anyone know why tiptronics took a 10–15% drop in value in past 30 days? Is it just big dealers trying to dump inventory? Or are the new lower prices what they’re now worth? I’m also trying to understand the logic why the 996tt is going up in value and the 997tt seems to be dropping. The 997tt staid steady or creeping up in value for past few years. I’m specifically referring to tiptronic here. Thanks

Dealers know tips are not very desirable and probably want to unload them before winter!

tip values haven't changed much in my filters of 20-40k miles since last January, which is the sweet spot for these cars. Don't be thrown off by 1 or 2 cars that are way below market value, due to some backstory or history

I'll set a phone reminder to check things again next january. I'm sure seasonality plays a factor. Dollar mileage thing has been corrected, thanks for the heads up.

did you look at my spreadsheet? there's no 10-15% drop compared to January. I doubt they went up by 10-15% and then back down in 1 month

Tips are declining slightly but 6Ms are still going up compared to a couple of years ago.
