997 TIP in a 996?

I wonder what it would take to move the new 997 TIP S transmission to a 996TT TIP? Anyone have an idea?

There must be something different about the 997TT tip than other 997 cars. This is the first tip that is faster than manual.

It has to be gearing. Does anyone know if the 997TT hits 60 in first gear with the tip?

Also, if the over boost option only avaliable with sports chrono package? Is the overboost available on manual cars?

Couldn't be gearing since it is still a 5 speed unless the ratios are SO spread out that it would hurt acceleration........

Any one confirmed that the tip is a 5 speed? I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 7 speed like the ones in MB.

i'm guessing here that the new VTG torque curve is a perfect match for the tiptronic. compare the peak torque range of the 996 (something like 420 ft-lbs from 2,600 RPM to 4,800 RPM) to the 997 (500 ft-lbs from 1,950 RPM to 5,000 RPM) and you'll see that's a massive improvement.

it seems to me that the tip is virtually identical to that in the previous turbo. Porsche seem to market the HELL out of anything new. and yet i haven't noticed any mention in all the marketing hype for the 997 TT about a new tiptronic.

'course i could be totally wrong...

I wonder if it's still a MBZ transmission just like the 996.

I would never get a TT with an automatic, I don't care how fast it is 0-60. That is purely aimed at the banker who wants to lease one, who doesn't know squat about porsches. Basically porsches' way of dumbing down the TT for a certain customer demographic.

I'm with you 1000%. However I'm very curious about the PDK transmission when it finally arrives.
