Max rear wheel spacer size???

Merry Christmas everyone!

I came across a nice set of HRE 890R three piece polished wheels for sale locally, but they're off an '08 Carrera S and have a +50/+60 offset for the narrow body cars. The fronts should work alright on my 997.1TT, but the +60 on the rears actually brings them inward 9mm. By my math, I would need 25mm (1") spacers on the back to push them out to where the wide body HRE specs typically sit (+35). I seem to see 15mm or 18mm as the widest spacers out there for the 997's... are there safety concerns with wider spacers?

Let me know your thoughts.

Rather than a std spacer with extended lugs you'd need a one that bolts to your existing wheel with additional holes (offset) that allow another set of lugs to mount wheel.

So HRE's sit at 35, where stock is 51 - or am I wrong about that? Would a lowered suspension allow that much poke?

I have read that going past 15-18mm on a spacer isn't a good idea, so Louie's idea about a piece with new lugs attached to the hub sounds better.

There are companies that make these for sure - had an adapter spacer built to use an Audi donut spare on my old Lexus RCF and was impressed by the quality of workmanship. Solid billet aluminum, so you're adding some weight there though. Curious how many folks are running NB wheels with 1" spacers on WB cars?
