Just upgraded to 997TT from 996TT
I didn't expect the new car to be quite as fast as my 996 but when I drove it home it felt especially sluggish. I was seeing 15psi max on the dash and as far as I know the car's only mod is a softronic tune. I got home and checked the car with my durametric and found two codes: p0299 - Turbo Underboost and a p1657 output stage overrun solenoid valve.
Questions are - what should a stock 997.1 have for boost (it has the sport-chrono option if that makes a difference)?
It seems like I'm going to have to get familiar with the differences between the 996 and 997 farily quickly. There are lots of differences due to the VTG setup that I need to learn. I'm going to put it on the quick-jacks this weekend and check for any obvious issues with linkages or leaks.

when mine was stock I was only seeing 14psi max for a second then settles on 12psi. on sport mode.
with a tune (I have cobb with stage 2) you should be seeing at least 18psi on sport and big difference
in power.

These cars are VERY sensative to fuel pressure, and if the car is still using the original fuel filter or one that hasn't been changed recently, the ecu will try to self correct and enriched the fuel mixture. This makes the car sluggish, especially under 4k rpm and can also affect the upper range performance. It is a relatively simple $80 part replacement and may help.
I have a stock 07 tt and this change made a huge difference...it was still on the orig factory fuel filter.

Given the age of the car, it most likely would benefit from motor mount and transmission mount replacements. If you want to keep the nvh low go with either oem replacement or a Function First modified oem motor mounts, otherwise there are a number of aftmkt units to choose from. I replaced mine with FF units. Replaced my entire oem transmission mount and added FF upgraded spacers to improve performance and shifting with virtually no degradation of nvh. You also get stiffer spacers from FF.
The entire cost for FF motor mounts, transmission spacers, and oem trans mount was approx $800, diy install. These improved shifting, more overall connected feel, better clutch release feel...a win win.
Added a DSC suspension controller, what a difference to ride and handling!
Enjoy!

i like the stock suspension in sport mode but I wish it was height adjustable like my coilovers were on my old car. I hate the wheel gap under the fenders. It has some very attractive 20” wheels on it but the stance just isn’t right.

You can "improve" the gap using wheel spacers. On a set of std 8.5x19 frt, 11x19 rear wheels a 7mm front and 15mm rear makes a huge dif french and wheels will be flush running PS4 or MPSS tires.
Sad that I sold my 996T for about what the mods cost. I have to be strong and not repeat the same level of upgrades. Fortunately from what I've read a tune + free flowing exhaust can really wake up the stock turbos. Baby steps... but there are so many things I want to change it's hard to start. Wheels/tires seem like a good place.
The 997T platform feels so much better than my 996T in spite of the (temporary) power deficit and it is one of the most beautiful 911 models Porsche ever released so I'll be keeping it for many years. I had the 996T for 8 years and now I have the best of both worlds - Mezger engine + beautiful body and interior. The 997.1 TT 6speed is the car I can just stare at in the garage. It doesn't feel like a compromise in any way.
