NO SAT radio or I POD kit in the Turbo?????

Couldn't belive that there is no SAT radio option and no i pod kit for this car. Seems crazy for Porsche not to include it as an option. Am I missing something? Maybe Porsche will include these as mid year changes?????

Definitely agree with you. Maybe they are trying to make it a purer sports car (in the same vain as the older cars that didn't have cup holders?). I don't know.

um i must say...the fact it has a 6 disc changer is GREAT...Remove the heavy changer and replace it with either an aftermarket ipod or sat...

And for you people that complain maybe porsche doesnt add Ipod and Sat hook up because one maybe some people use mp3 devices other than ipod and secondly people would ***** about the Sat not being XM if its Sirus and vica verca

I inquired about Sat. radio when I ordered my car. Porsche does not have and they knew nothing about it. I looked into and bought a Pioneer piece to go in my car that is portable, works on a battery or car cord and plays back through one of the vacant stations on the radio. No installation required, it does it somehow transmitting over the radio band. It is great, I take it with me on planes and it even works at 33,000 ft.

For about $2000, the dealer can install either Sirius or XM in the 997. I just had this done and it works perfectly. The kit is for the Ceyenne. It displays channel, artist and song channel on the display. There are 2 different kits, 1 for cars with a cd changer, and one for cars without cd changer. It is pricey, but it works. The antenna is a combo unit with GPS and fits under the plastic area under the wipers so there is nothing to see. It works really well with few drop outs. I have no idea why Porsche does not offer this. Suncoast did mine, although I heard some dealers will not do this as it is not an official Porsche part for the 997.

Recently saw an iPod hookup in a GT2 so it definitely can be done. Very clean install with iPod mounted on the right side of the center console.

I think it is called the Ino, it is a portable unit about the size of an Ipod. Cost is about $200-300 and works really well.

the G does have 2 SD card slots though that can hold 2GB(about 500 MP3's each) cards. much better than an IPOD

I agree with Me-qwkr. I would rather have an Ipod dock instead of the CD changer. Since Bose makes the car's system, and they also make an Ipod docking system for home use, it seem logical that they would make an automotive version, but they don't to my knowledge.

Sure, the music's coming from the flat 6, but in traffic it's not really all that inspiring. A little tunes every now and then suits me fine. Especially with the exhaust note of this new turbo (haven't heard it yet, only the comments)

I think this new stereo system may be sufficiently different than the 996's such that the same hookup on the GT2 may not work. Hopefully it will.

No Highs, No lows it must be Bose

I am not at all inspired with Bose. I think the mfg. and maybe the consumer is impressed with Bose, I'm not. My 996tt radio was poor, maybe this one will be better. I have Serius in my Benz and XM in a Scion. Never listen the FM. That Pioneer Inno looks like the way to go, no install and you can take it out of the car and take it with you.

Just to let you know, I've got a bose system in my car (non-pCar but working on it) and I purchased an iPod interface device that plug directly into the back of the radio and connects & charges my ipod and even allows me to use the radio/Steering controls to change tracks, playlists and the like. I'm going to be testing this interface on a friends 996TT and will get back to everyone.

If everything seems like it's working I'll set up a quick store and make them available to everyone.
