Did you ask HRE if the sensors can be moved into your new wheels?

Lou, it cannot be done.

Send the car to me, I'll take care of the wheels for you, really.

j/k

Once the new sensors are on, just recalibrate. Should be simple.

You cannot swap the valve stem on HRE's, however, I heard people were putting bands around the wheels and activating TPMS. What if my wheels do n0t have the band around the wheel and I do not use the TPMS...Will it cause problems? Thanks

To keep the tpms ACTIVE on most 3 piece wheels you need to use the band, HRE has there own system with the special band and valve stem locator ring just make sure to tell your wheel dealer or HRE direct that you have TPMS.

The TPMS sensor locates in the valve hole but must sit flush behind the saftey hump in the wheel if this ledge in the wheel is not deep enough the sensor will not sit flush and will get knocked off when fitting the tire your car will have the dash light on if the sytem is not activated properly.

When fitting any aftermarket wheel ask if they are sensor friendly and if not do they have a system that will work to keep the TPMS in place.

Thanks for the information. If I did not get the band installed, is it going to cause problems or will my TPMS simply not work? I don't mind if it is not on...

Not having the TPMS there wont cause any problems...the light in your dash will stay on but will not affect performance at all..

HRE does sell the bands to mount the TPMS sensor on your wheels at an additional cost..

You will have annoying error messages. Just get the bands from HRE and have the sensors mounted by a quality shop. Anything else you'll just be bothered by it.

I agree. It won't hurt anything, just bug you if there is a constant light/alarm.

Use the straps the Light/alarm is bothersome. The straps have been around for a long time as they had to use them on the C5 Corvettes.

Order them and have a quality shop install your life will be better.

You would think by purchasing $6K + wheels these wheel companies would have invested some R&D into machining a bracket to hold the TPMS instead of some cheap *** metal band....just my two cents..

It's a good idea to have the TPMS sensor active anyways. It has alerted me on 2 occasions. Once my wife's car had a slow leak and it alerted her before going completely flat. The other time, I had my whole family in the Sienna and it alerted me there was a problem but I ignored it. 5 miles later, the tire was completely flat and rear end felt squirrely so I finally pulled over.

With the extremely low profile tires nowadays, you almost can't even tell you have a flat until you take that onramp @ 90+ and then it's too late. You have the system, use it and get the bands!
