I don't own a Z06, but do think it is a very nice car and would like to have one in the future. Heck, I like them all, Ferrari, Lambo, etc. but that's a discussion for another forum and another time...

Meanwhile, back at the Z06 ranch....

I have been lurking, but not posting, on the Corvette forum and reading all the good, bad and ugly goings on over there, then this poor soul decided to start this thread, "A Porsche Owner's Take on the Z06 and if you read far enough into it, you'll see that Rennlist and 6speedonline made the news in the thread!

I am not one who "crashes" other forums, I usually stay with my own. If I am on the 997TT forum, I try hard to stick to the 997TT discussions and not stray. Okay, guilty this time for straying, but it does relate to Porsche, as you will soon read, in fact, this thread has a lot of 997TT content, so I didn't stray too far!

The Z06 group is passionate and that's good. But this thread takes a pretty nasty direction and should have been locked down, but its still going strong. Some rather sad comments, a good read:

eww i hate seeing these things happen. im a member at both forums, fans of both cars, and honestly i see about the same amount of bashing from both sides. the nice thing is you can see that SOME people from both sides have level heads

Im going to refrain from saying anything really bad, but those are the types of guys who are just plain pieces of trash. very narrow minded, ignorant, and have no class. I personally HATE corvettes. i think they are thr BIGGEST POS's. I would take any Porsche over one any day. IMO, and most who know about cars, they are all around better performers and thats how I feel. I laugh at those guys because they dont know anything better. i doubt most of them have even driven a Porsche. I dont, im not getting into this arguement for the millionth time. it gets old. we have out cards, and they have theirs, and ours come out on top with the winning hand.

 

And for you and each person like you, there is someone from the corvette side that will say the exact same thing. I am a member of many many forums because I take so much respect and interest in so many cars. I can truly only admire a fellow auto enthusiast when they can respect each car and it's community for what it is. Everyone buys different cars based on their own personal tatse and reasons. If we didn't have personal taste we'd all be driving the same car... how BORING would that be?

This is equally blamed amongst any side of the fence, as I see it in any car rivalry. It's just a shame everyone can't just give respect where respect is due and get along. But what fun is that I guess? Let the flaming continue...

 

Oh boy! So, let's see here, you say you are going to "refrain from saying anything really bad", then you say:

1. "...those are the types of guys who are just plain pieces of trash." (I'd say that's pretty bad)

3. "...they are the biggest POS's." (Well, that's just bad)

At least you told us how you really feel. And here I was trying to distinguish us as the group that takes the high road. How'd I do?

 

I love the Corvette , always have , always will.
Never owned one though , currently have 2 Porsche's (993S and 996C4S) but see no reason whatsoever to criticise a real sportscar or their owners.

PorscheC4 , may I ask how old are you ? Just to put your comments in perspective. I hope you do not feel insulted by this question. Just hard to understand your comments in a civilized environment. I am 41 btw.

 

I like the Corvette very much...but nothing will never beat the 911 style...I said that about 42514654 times but IT IS!

 

Well I am a car guy, doesn't matter old or new. I always have respected Corvette for the muscle but not as a track car. Now the new Z06 is the first Corvette I would ever consider having. It’s got everything and would be a terrific track car.
Though I am still prefer driving a Porsche.<o></o>

 

blah blah blah...little boys and their toys. You could change the name of the cars to 911 and Boxster or Air-cooled porsche and water-cooled porsche and we've all seen the same stuff. It's not limited to Vette owners. Ferrari guys do the same thing...so do Lambo guys...so do Benz and Bimmer guys. Right now two 5-year olds are arguing over which one has better sneakers while their 40-year old dads are arguing over which one has a better plasma. The difference between boys and men is the price of their toys.

This is human nature at it's worst. Petty and immature.

Guys, I'm pretty sure that was the thread I posted on over there. I can't say specifically because I got banned for life from that forum last night. Some guy called me an ******* and I responded back with a "not so nice" comment to him. I do not personally attack anybody but if you attack me personally, you bet your *** you are going to get it back from me. btw, I post under another screename over there.

I am (ooops was) not a troll over there either. I was a member for two years dating back to when I owned a C6.

To be completely honest, the guy gave a damn accurate summary of the Z06. A large number of those guys over there just can't stand to hear even ONE negative comment about their "prize". The guy stated the truth....the performance is phenominal and the interior and fit/finish sucks. Hell, one guy (Ronnie C6Z who had a pretty serious run in with Craig on this forum) even said that the fit/finish on his C5 and C6 Vettes were better than any Porsche. Now you have to be a complete idiot to make a ridiculous statement like that. Then it turned to a personal attack on me and the CaymanS I currently own. Hense, my ban on CF.

 

Well I tried to, but it just ticks me off sometimes. I prob could have said much worse. Those were also my personal opinions, you can take them or leave them for what they are worth. every one has them, some feel the same way, other dont. i understand that.
