997 tt vs. GT3

I know this has been posted before and the GT3 isnt even out yet, but is anyone still trying to decide between these two cars? the magazines make it seem the GT3 is goiong to be a great street car. Im torn as i have approx dec\jan dates on both cars. Any suggestions? I dont really track, but the GT3 does look sweet.

The Turbo is more GT, the GT3 is more sport. Both are wickedly fast. If you want creature comforts, stick to the Turbo. Personally, I'm more of a GT3 guy - it was about $15K out of my reach.

Sounds like the supply of the GT3 will be extremely limited. Unless you order it in pink, you should be able to move it for list if you don't like it. By that time, TT's should be readily available - perhaps even at a slight discount.

The GT3 looks nicer. I like the exterior of the GT3 more, specially the rare pamper. 415HP is great for non turbo engin but the different between turbo and GT3 $15k only which the turbo worth it. both cars are great the GT3 is more sporty and give you more feeling to race so see which car you love more and choose it

Well I'm more a GT3 guy...I like the extreme look of car and the way it performs...I'm not that expert but I prefer RWD ways more.
The best for me would be a Midnight blue GT3 with yellow seat bealts and yellow interior parts.

GT3 is normally aspirated, 2 wheel drive, less sound proofing material, just basically more of a race car for the street. And you loose the back seats and the option of an automatic. The turbo does have back seats and the option of an automatic, and is basically more of a gt car like they said. If you needed a daily driver, I would go with the turbo. For a weekend car, I would go with a GT3. I think that basically sums it up.

AWD cars will never have the driving dynamics of pure RWD. Having said that, the 996 TT was one of the few cars to bridge this gap with their RWD counterpart and the 997 TT takes this a step further. Similarly, the purest power delivery will always be normally aspirated. I like Turbos for the definitive advantage that they provide at high altitude (where I live) and AWD for the ultimate safety net for spirited street driving (I don't track my car). If I lived at sea level and tracked my car, normal aspiration and RWD would win out! In the case of the 997 (or the 996 for that matter) there is no wrong choice, you just have to decide on the right one for your driving lifestyle!

I am actually leaning toward the GT3 over the tt. I think i might try to get a ride or drive in a new tt. i also just read somehwere that porsche is going to build 6000 tt's for the year. so the GT3 may the way to go for me.

if you are ever planning on tracking...and your area is particularly "weatherful", having the 4wd is a GREAT advantage...BUT the gt3 does seem to have the stuff to make that a null point if the suspension is set up right...

one helluva hard choice...easier with the 996 varients...i guess i would have to say the TT though in the end for its unmatched versatility...

I am in the situation, GT3 sounds way better than the Turbo. The Turbo's performance is mind blowing and i think with a few mods (exhaust, ECU etc), the Turbo will be very satisfying to drive even if it is only on the weekends. It is a bit more forgiving as well, perfect for learning. I believe that if one is fortunate to get a performance car, one should also be able to control it at the car's limits.

Everything i have read says the 997 gt3 is going to be awesome for the street and is alot less forgiving. We'll just have to wait and see some early owners feedback.

Straight line speed= 997tt = no comparison = GAME OVA

track handling and times= GT3 unless the tt has heavy suspension and braking mods plus a heavy slim fast diet!!!!
