Is this a common problem with the I-forged wheels?

Once I ordered the wheels and waited a while to receive them I have run into quite some problems, one of the main problems is the way this wheel was design it is/will be almost "impossible" to put air on the tire as the "air valve" sits sooo close in level to the bolts around the wheels that you can't get a regular air hose from a gas station to self adapt to the rim. Then, the way the wheel was made you have to do some modifications in order to fit the "tire monitoring sensor" from the 997TT.

It's been quite a BIG pain in the neck and still in the works to make the wheel work for my application, anyone else had any experience in regards to this? here's a pic but you can't appreciate to view the wheel enough.

can you get a longer valve? Might look ugly though.

Tire monitoring equipment would be car specific so you cant really fault them there unless they market them as compatible. When I ordered BBS wheels I was asked if the vehicle had a TPMS so I assume they sent me specific parts.

Your right, however prior to building the wheel and knowing the wheel is made for a specific vehicle wouldn't they do a a lil research make sure the wheel will fit to the stock components without any heavy modifications? I figure they would but perhaps I was wrong? I'm just trying to see other point of views that's all, thanks for the input though.

I would also expect them too...but with the 997TT being so new Im sure they could not get their hands on one and used published data for their specs. Regardless they need to correct your concerns to earn your business and Im sure they will.

Playing devils advocate TPMS might not be required in Europe and they might have used that data? I know 2007's in the US require it and Im sure its not the case in the EU.

oh, suggest not using gas station air devices....lots of moisture. Buy a craftsman for the garage (many sizes from $40 on up). Much easier to set the right cold pressure in the morning before a drive etc.

Thanks for your valuable input, I usually use the craftman that I have in my garage, but at some points you never know if you are away from your house and can't have access except going to a gas station. But, thank you your right in terms of the moisture.

The air valve at my Cargraphic also located at one of the bolt. You can see at my pic. My rear with 3.5" lips, normal gas stations air hose was impossible directly plug to the valve. My wheels come it a 2" value extension. Just screw it on the valve and it will work perfect. I think you can ask iforged or any wheels shop for it for less than $10.

i do the same thing on my cargraphics. make sure you get a metal extension though, as the plastic ones are ****.

on the same topic, when it's time for a tire change, i'm putting regular long valves on there. i don't care if they're ugly. it's such a chore to check or add air to the tires with the hidden valve stems...

for the cargraphic wheels, you need a small plastic tool just to take the valve cap off and then the extension to add/check the air pressure. then the small tool to put the cap back on. what a PIA.

I've had some problems with the extenders on my Kinesis K19Rs when I had them on my M3, both plastic and metal.

At one point I got a flat warning while driving and I tried 2 different gas stations and the air just went around the valve. I ended up taking a piece of a napkin and wrapping it around the end to give it more volume and that made for a tight seal.

Overall, I think its a huge pain in the butt with extenders, so much so that it was probably reason #1 or #2 for getting rid of the wheels.

That's BS. If you can't make a wheel that accepts the OE parts correctly, don't make it. The aftermarket band adapters to use the stock valve sensors are junk. Even IF they don't have the TPMS regulations in Europe a standard valve stem will work fine in those cases. So why not just have the barrels made to accept the sensor? PM LSM, he'll tell you all about the fun he had with his HRE's and the sensors on his 977tt.

Well said. There is only a hand full of aftermarket manufactures that I would trust their wheels on my cars. Iforged is not one of them. I would like to see how much $ Iforged spent on R&D compared to BBS...

It's one reason I got Champion wheels from Wheels Experts. They were TPMS ready and it made my decision much easier to go with them.

Besides the existing problems we all agree on with the sensors and valve
extensions, what about the durability with driving daily hitting bumps,
potholes, curbs etc. ?? It surprises me no one has mentioned anything
yet, maybe there is no reason to be so apprehensive. These spun
aluminum shells are built for race/performance use, I hope when combined with these stiff sidewall tires we are not bending wheels every time we come up on a little rough road.
