Which wheel set should I get?
Which wheel set should I get?
Okay folks, I'm on the fence here. I'm having a hard time deciding which wheel I should get for my 997TT? I started out thinking that I wanted to get the Champion RG5 Monolite 19" wheels but then I switched to the BBS 19" Racing Wheels with black centers. I realized that both wheels are a bit too "complex" looking for my tastes.
So, my criterias are:
1) Strong and lightweight (forged)
2) Elegant and beautiful
3) Simplicity is key
4) 19" and works with the OEM tires without the use of spacers if possible (20" wheels offer very limited tire selections)
I've narrowed the choices down to the RUF 19" wheels and maybe Rinspeed if they offer 19" wheels (only could find 20"). I'm not interested in Techart because they're a bit too heavy (3 pounds heavier than stock).
What are your thoughts on which wheel I should look at?
BTW, I did think about getting GT3 wheels but they're cast and would need spacers.

How about the GT3 RS wheels? They don't run any spacers on those and they should have the correct offset. I'm pretty sure that the RUF wheels uses spacers but ask around, I could be wrong. You could also include Sportec, don't know about their weights though. For 20" wheels look at the Champion RF67 as they look pretty nice.
Those RF67's look pretty good but they appear to be only available in 20's. That's a great idea about the GT3 RS wheels. Maybe get those in black?
I saw those Sportec wheels..not to my liking.

The RS wheels should also come in silver, it's a no cost option as I recall. Did you look at Fikse wheels? They're smoother looking then the usual HRE style wheel. They can also custom make a set to your desired offset.
not sure what you mean on the complexity. The wheel photo you show has more spokes than the RS-GT, i.e., 10 for yours vs only 8 for the GT. The ones on my M3 are 20 lb lighter for the four over oem wheels. They are total aluminum. I thought the diamond black against my artic silver would look good rather than silver. A buddy of mine as the diamond black ones on his blue M3 and they look super. The blue M3 color is much like the Cobalt blue on your soon to arrive tt.

RS wheel is great but i'm curious to see how the fitting is with the 305/30-19 tire mounted on the 12'' wide wheel. knowing MPSC (standard on RS) runs a bit wider & aggressive sidewall design but i'm not sure how the street less aggressive PS2 (standard on TT/C4S) 305/30-19 would look on 12'' wide wheel. i'm afraid it'll look really stretched. funny if u search both PS2 & MPSC 305/30-19 spec Michelin only suggests the wheel width range from 10.5 - 11.5. we shall see.

I love my BBS RS-GTs, but if you want a simple look, for me the RUF wheels are the classics. They look great on many generations of 911 and the new finish is awesome in person. That's my choice...

Some owners in Europe already started taking off the MPSC and substituting PS2 in the 305/30/19 size. I know a friend of mine did that when he got his 997 GT3 here in Bahrain. I'll ask him if it looks stretched at all and maybe see if he has any pictures of what it looks like.
The wheels on the new GT3 brings out the dynamics of the car and are rather simplistic. I understand what you mean here.....the RS GTs look too complex for '07 porsches. Taking the GT3 wheel (Wheel Enhancement) and moving to their Kinesis F110 one piece seems the way to go. Let us know your final decision!!
