Engine Pause on Turning

If I'm in first gear and start turning then touch the brakes the car goes to almost zero power. The first time this happened I thought the car stalled. Now I'm used to it.

I'm not going fast or hit the brakes hard, no reason for PSM to kick in and I don't see it light up. It seems to happen if you are a little on the gas when you touch the brakes. I did this to try to build a little boost before getting straight. It has now happened about 4 times so its not a chance happening under gentle conditions.

Has anyone else seen this? Ths

Attempting to build boost by braking while in motion and on the accelerator pdeal might be causing the ECU to make adjustments on your behalf , despite no warning light showing up during this process my guess would be that.

What I'm about to say is probably stupid...but...if your car is a Tiptronic, so automatic, do you feel like the car has the clutch down?? I hope to be clear but is hard to explain my thought...

What's the car doing?

pilone, yes its a tip. No it doesn't feel like the clutch, it feels like the engine is off, almost completely off, but then the engine is back. I guess that may be like putting the clutch in, but then the engine would rev heigher with no load. It feels like a stall.

It is probably an ECU issue. My 911 is not a tip, but I have an RS6 that does a similar thing. If you have the brake on and apply throttle, it cuts to no power. If you then re-apply the throttle (with the brake still on) the power returns. I am guessing that the computer thinks you may not intentionally be pressing the brake and throttle at the same time, and is trying to prevent "unintended acceleration" (I am sure the Audi is trying to avoid this). To test if this is the ECU cutting power, apply the brake while stopped and then try adding throttle and see if it cuts the power.

Could it be related to the fuel pump cutting out? Have it looked at asap. Good luck.

I bet thats in.

ksturbo, that sounds like the explination. It does cout to no power. I think they will modify the program a little in the future if they read this forum.

Thanks to all, now I know its real and better yet not a flaw with my TT.

All the drive by wire cars do this. If you apply the brake and the gas together is closes the TB and kills all power. Most of the cars do this as they assume you are in a panic state and don't mean to hit the brake and gas at the same time.

Both Audi and VW do this. My T-Reg does the same thing as my TT. All normal.

If I apply brake before touching gas, my tip allows me to power brake revving up the engine.
