Phone module experience

Hi,

Can someone who has this option on their car tell me what they think of it after using it for a while? Good? Bad? Easy to use? Worth getting? SMS text works well?

Thanks.

jimdarcy is infamous around these parts
I am interested as well, but SMS text?? I thought it was a SIM card that fits in a slot that enables your car to send and recieve phone calls. Also heard that the phonebook appears in the NAV screen.

Does anybody have a picture of exactly where the SIM card fits?
thanks
Jim

I have the phone module in my 997S. It is very well thought out. Good sound quality from the microphone. SMS works fine.

Do you forward your normal line to the car whenever you drive that car? Or do you have the car phone forward to your handheld whenever car phone is off?

Does PCM make a sound or display an icon whenever there is a SMS text waiting?

Thanks.

Yes, I forward my other lines to my 997S's phone and cancel the call forwarding when leaving. I have two cellphones, one provided by work and a personal one (the 997's). It's a bit of a pain, but handsfree in the P-car is worth it. Unfortunately, none of the US GSM providers allow for cloned SIM cards.

Yes, there is a sound and envelope symbol that appears on the PCM when you have a SMS text. The response SMS using the PCM is a bit cumbersome, therefore I never text FROM the car.

What about if you have a voicemail message waiting? Does it show an icon to tell you that on the PCM screen?

Thanks.
