Power Pak (X51 option) on 997 TT When Available?
I know I have seen reference to the "power pak" option in previous postings. My 997TT is a May build which is near the end of the 07 model year. I want to know if any of you very knowledgable gents know if, and when this option will really be available. I would sure like to get it on my May build car if possible. It would be a consolation prize for my 18 month wait for this car. My dealer just plays dumb. I have a feeling that I may not be getting the complete story. Please let me know what you have heard and details, in order that I can start making demands on my dealer to confirm my car specification includes this option. Thank you.
When I did this same calculus, I considered the following:
X51: ~$15,000, 520 HP
ECU reflash: ~$3,000, 540-550HP.
In my pocket: enough for exhaust, intake, headers, turbo mods, and wheels.
It was a very brief mental conversation.

Warranty depends on dealer...If you get something like the GIAC flashloader then you can always put the stock program before dealer visits and go back to performance after
P.S. I posted the same Q on timeline for the X50 in another thread...
The one thing (other than warranty) that mods can buy will be the bigger VTG turbos that would potentially come with this...On the 996TT X50 you also got a different (reinforced) tranny and the GT2 bigger interccoolers
The issue is the X50 in the US is overpriced! In Europe it is 11K Euro (fine the exch. rate sux now)

I believe the software that porsche uses now can detect any flash that has been done. So, yes, you're warranty is potentially done depending on your relationship with the dealer. Also, wasn't the x50 more like 17k in the end on the 996TT? Waaaaaay overpriced!

You americans pay the X51 more respect than Europe...but I don't think it's good for us cause you can go aftermarket...but not here in Italy...so it's less expensive but the only thing we can do to tune up ours cars
