Consistently seeing 17psi

Just had the Stage III (FS exhaust, headers, GIAC) done yesterday....

Today, consistently seeing 17 psi.

These simple mods are incredible and difficult to put into words. This comparison might help.

997 Carrera 4S - 355HP
997 Turbo (Stock) - 480HP
997 Turbo Stage III - 614HP

The stock Turbo has 125 more HP than the Carrera 4S.
The Stage III Turbo has 134 more HP than the stock Turbo.
I have driven all three cars now. There is just as much separation in performance between the Carrera 4S and the stock 997 Turbo as there is between the stock 997 Turbo and the 997 Stage III. The bolt-on mods are that good.

This is like falling in love with a woman who has C cups only to wake up one morning to find double D's.

To borrow a decade-old term from the MKIV Supra, I believe we have now established the Basic Performance Upgrades (BPU) for the 997 Turbo: Exhaust, headers, and ECU. I have to agree that there is so much difference between the stock and BPU 997TT that it feels like a new vehicle; the difference is at least as great as between the Carrera 'S' and the turbo.

I suspect it will take another few months to establish the efficacy of the other three obvious modifications: Intercoolers, Intakes, and Turbo mods. I'll urge everyone who persues upgrades to do a baseline dyno and an after-mod dyno using the same gas and the same dyno, so that we start gathering data about what works and what doesn't -- that turned out to be critical to advancing the state of the art for MKIV power mods, and I expect it will be just as important for this powerplant.
