Nissan aspires to conquer the 911!?!
Next, I will have to hear about fast Toyotas and other classics.<!-- / message -->
Oh wait, you were being sarcastic weren't you
Honestly (back on topic) I think the GTR is going to be a fabulous car and a real bargain that is not only dependable but nice looking and very fast. Is it an exotic like say a Porsche, Aston, Ferrari etc.--no. Will it be one of the 'best bangs for your buck' like the new Z06--probably. Will I buy one--dunno.

I'm impressed that Nissan is taking aim at the 997TT. I think its a great benchmark, and a perfect sportscar platform to try and conquer. Whether or not they make it "better" is up to speculation. I'm pretty sure either way it will probably end up being a fabulous sports car with a high degree of out of the box mod possibilities.
When it is all said an done the cars appeal to different buyers IMO. I have owned 3 GTRs and R33 and 2 R34s, and they are phenomonal cars, extremely fast to drive, easy to drive quickly but honestly, I didn't enjoy driving it as much as my old 993 C4.
I think therein lies the problem, Japanese cars always have had horsepower and technology, but never had soul. Maybe they can do differently on the new GTR, but the old GTRs where all modified family cars so they had to chunk in a mountian of technology to solve the problem. My first R34 had about 550hp@wheels and when I drove it it was like playing a computer game, hell you could get the thing sideways and let go of the steering wheel and the car would straighten up by itself. Try doing that in your 911!
Personally, two different cars for 2 different customers.
5-10 years ago I would be lusting over the GTR, but now I'm looking forward to the GT2.

To you few people ganging up on me, your all the same, all bark and no bite.you buy a car because you want to feel as if you are someone that your not, midlife crisis maybe, i dont know, but its the same look i get when i would pull up in the Supra and the noses would be in the sky. When i drive in the Porsche its almost like some of you guys, like the same ones that are bashing me, are still unsatisfied and want to try to see who's bank account is bigger.but iam not asking you guys to accept me.i dont care what you think about me and what i drive. Everything asside iam not going to get in a keyboard war with the shxx talkers. Do any of those people iam talking about go to any tracks.
Funny thing is with either of these cars 90% of the owners never drive them to their potential. So at the end of the day its a matter of what you want to wake up to or die in.

The comment about soul is very true i think. The only jap car that ever captured me with its soul is the NSX. Thats why i'll allways have one in my garage. There is just something about it that connected with me from the first time. Maybe the new skyline will be different in this department? I hope so. The more amazing sports cars available the better!

If I had an Enzo, I don't think I would ever push it as hard as my current car. So how exactly would I experience "soul" without driving a car to its limits? Hence where I disagree with the people that think a car with more "heritage" so to speak will automatically feel differently when they drive it.
For me, it's about how I drive learn to drive the car better and better each day.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Porsches are no doubt awesome cars and I wouldn't mind having one.
