997tt or 997Gt3

Right now I own the 997S and will be trading it in for either the turbo or Gt3. The problem is I don't know which one to get. Anyone here consider the gt3 before getting the turbo?

Van, it really depends on what you're going to use it for. They're 2 totally different cars, but that said, you can't go wrong with either. You'll save 20-30 grand if you go with the 3.

My dealer had a good point, the TT is a great car, but the 3 is a lot of car for the $$.

By the way, they've got 1 spot for May delivery available if you're interested in a GT3.

gt3 = pure fun, like a go cart, direct, sounds awesome
tt= pure power power, comfort
what do you need more ?

1 thing... just in case : you can mod a tt closer to a gt3 than a gt3 to a tt ! thats what i've been told by a "24h le mans race driver "

I agree with Anubis. You can do a search to get more feedback, it has been discussed numerous times.

Good luck finding an allocation for a GT3...many are spoken for. if you want to configure an allocation to your preference, you'll have an easier time finding a reasonable allocation time.

I looked for both you can find either if you look ar enough...one is a true exotic DD the GT3 is a better car for track of course and if you are going to do track time get that but if you want the best exotic DD the TT is it...I have a friend here who has a GT2 , C6 vette, Z06 vette and has owned 2 x 996 GT3's and he says none of them would be a DD for him...the TT is the all around perfect car.

If its a daily driver, the TT is hard to beat. The GT3 is really harsh on a non smooth street.

Things to consider are (1) How important are back seats and (2) Are you going to have clearance problems getting up your driveway with the GT3? That car was made for the track and if you live in a City with a lot of potholes or road imperfections your gonna have to really pay attention with the GT3. I came really close to getting a GT3, but opted for the Turbo because of these concerns. My 2 little nephews spend a lot of time with me on the weekends, so that was something to consider. If your into tracking your car and live in an area with decent roads I think the GT3 would be the way to go. Also, if you like the feel of your 997 C2S the GT3 will be closer to it than the TT. It can be a tough choice to make! just my .02

Drive both, it will become instantly clear which one is right for you.

If you want any sort of practicality/luggage space, the Turbo is the one to get.

Also worth noting, the GT3 wth the wings/aerokit is not very subtle at all

Thats true Moogle but where I live I have a tough time test driving either one because dealers rarely keep one around for this purpose. I remember when the 997 -997S came out and every dealer got a black 997S with ceramics...... fairly loaded for $99K. Those cars were shipped to dealers for one purpose: to allow customers to experience first hand the characteristics/improvements of this new model. My dealer told me they were not allowed to sell the launch cars until a specified time. These "launch" cars were delivered for that specific purpose. As far as the TT and Gt3 go (GT3 must be near impossible to test drive) no dealer I visited in the Bay area has either model to test drive. All the ones I saw were spoken for (mostly TT's). Too bad, I think it would be in Porsches best interest to make these 2 models more readily available for a hands on comparison behind the wheel. As soon as the market cools off (I think it has started) more cars should become available. Just my .02.
