New GT3RS wheels installed!

I initially had put on a set of wheels from the GT3. The front wheels were the same as the stock Turbo wheels but the rears had an offset of 68mm which were quite a bit more than the stock Turbo 51mm offset so I had to use 18mm spacers to compensate. I wasn't too happy with the initial look and the car didn't feel as "tight" around the corners as I'd have liked.

I came across a set of wheels from the GT3 RS which is a widebody just like the Turbo with wheels designed accordingly. These wheels had an offset of 51mm just as the Turbo wheels do so no more spacers would be needed. The car once feels as tight around the corners as when I first took delivery not to mention how good it looks!

No more spacers

Deep concave dish look

Vantage shot with the new wheels

The view that most folks see when I'm around

Very happy with the latest mods! And no, I'm not planning to swap springs. I scrape the front end already as it is even when driving at an angle.

Looks great Atomic!

Did you shed any weight in the process switching from the stock wheels or the GT3's?

Great looking wheels but there is no technical reason to support what you are saying about the "feel" with the GT3 wheel offsets. There is no way you can feel the difference between a 51mm and 50mm offset (68 - 18 = 50) wheel!

The GT3 wheels are about the same weight as the Turbo wheels so no weight was saved.

I can't explain why I would feel any handling differences. Maybe its a placebo effect? But I could almost swear that the car handles much better without the spacers. It could also be because of the fact that I have less unsprung weight now.

Thumbs up

Those wheels rock Jason! I like the standard wheels but if I had to make an alternate choice the GT3 wheels would be it. The black "Turbo" logo looks great too. I checked Eric at Bumperplugs but he did not carry the "Turbo" logo in black. Debating whether I should get the denison ipod coverter now or just wait until the TT arrives? The main box goes right where the CD changer is in the trunk but install will probably be done by dealer. I wonder what the labor cost would be to install it? I'll have to inquire. Congrats on the wheels!
