placed my order today

April build. I mulled the color over forever and here is what I came up with:

Cobalt Blue w/ Black interior
Sport Chrono Turbo
LSD
Thicker steering wheel
Heated seats
Short Shifter (to be installed at dealer)

This will be my third 911 and my first Turbo car ever. I can't wait!

Congratulations! Welcome to one of the most difficult waits of your life.

Why the thicker steering wheel? It comes with the sport wheel already. Do you mean thicker wheel with multi function?

Maybe I am missing something but from what I remember the car comes with the sport wheel which is already thicker and has the thumb rests...from what I recall when you switch to the multi function that's when it reverts to the thinner wheel and that's why you need to add the thicker wheel at that point. Is the sport wheel not as thick as the thicker wheel? The sport wheel actually felt better to me than the thicker multifunction but I wanted the functionality.

Solving the 997tt Steering Wheels Mystery

Hello,

First: Congrats to original poster! :-)

I have spent some time trying to solve the mystery; let me see if I could help. (Anyone please feels free to correct me if I am wrong.)

Standard wheel for the 997tt=the Sport Wheel. Round hub with thumb rest.

XPA Option: Thicker Sport Wheel. Round hub with thumb rest, very slightly thicker than the standard sport wheel, very slightly softer. I believe this is the standard wheel for the GT3. I was at a dealer this past weekend and might not have noticed the differences had I not read about them ahead of time.

459 (I think. i.e. I might be wrong but should be close.) Option: Not such a good option in my humble opinion. Triangular hub, compared to the standard Sport Wheel: larger diameter AND thinner rim, no thumb rest.

431: Multifunction Wheel. Like 459, but with multifunction buttons.

431 with CPA: Thicker Multifunction Wheels: Thicker than 431 & 459, but still NO thumb rest like the Sport Wheel.

So if you want a smaller diameter wheel with thumb rests (important to me), your choice is either the standard Sport Wheel or the thicker Sport Wheel (option XPA).

My only question is this: If XPA is so good, why is it not "standard" in the 997 tt?

XPA - thicker spokes is what I got originally for my sport steering wheel. The standard steering wheel is pretty thin. By getting XPA, you make it slightly thicker.

Thanks guys - The thicker wheel is a thicker version of the standard sport wheel. The standard sport wheel in my C2S was too thin in my opinion.

You can't wait! Hell, I've almost given up hope. Can anyone explain to me how you can place an order today and get an April build date? I placed an order last August and got an April build date. Is it because dealers have unsold allocation slots that they are able to offer such short lead times? If so, that would indicate to me that demand is softening dramatically and resale value will drop accordingly.
