April build have some questions
SubscribeHey gang - been lurking for awhile - finally seeing light as my ETA for build completion is 4/16 configured as ParkAssist, Heated Seats, Three-spoke Multifunction Steering Wheel in Leather, Sports Chrono Package Turbo, Axle-Differential Lock Rear, Slate Grey, Black full leather, Rear wiper, Adaptive Sports Seat and Sport Shifter.
This will be my first Porsche after owning 5 BMW ///M cars.
Couple of quick questions ..
1) Is there a way to monitor build progress on web (like you can do on bmw)?
2) For '07 does passenger seat need to be deactivated by the dealer for child seat or is that now standard?
3) Any bluetooth DIYs? - I see one person used a Rosen VoiceCom 2000, but no DIY docs.
lastly - I purchased a set of BMW M6 wheels for a M5, if anyone is interested in purchasing or trading 997 stuff -

i can tell you that i know of no way to follow the build progress on your computer-i think your dealer has to do it. by diy, do you mean do it yourself? i have a parrot hands free that works pretty well. but it was installed by the dealer.
hey docjackson1 - do you know what model Parrot? I have the CK 3000 Evolution in my 2 other cars and I agree it works good.
Does the stereo say phone or mute when you use your phone?

I had a 4/16 build date also but on friday it was bumped to 4/20. Havent a clue why but my dealer emailed me with the change.

mine is a parrot 3200 ls-color-the way mine was installed, it doesn't say anything on the stereo when i use it. i might be wrong on this one, but i think that it can be installed to do that. i believe that it works thru it's own speaker, because when i turn the volume down on the stereo, it doesn't affect the parrot at all. i think though if it is installed differently, that it will utilize the right speaker of the stereo. i have a treo 700p-it doesn't seem to want to use the directory on my phone. when you look online, it tells you straight out that the parrot and the treo have problems together. basically, it will receive calls, and i can dial calls (either on the phone or through a somewhat tedious mechanism in the parrot), but with my treo, it doesn't do anything fancy. with a phone that integrated a bit better with the parrot, it would be a more seemless system. where i live, verizon gives the best service, and since verizon is a non gsm system, the integrated phone option in the turbo was never an option for me. just a comment on the stereo-it is fine, but for the heck of it, i drove that new big lexus today with the mark levinson stereo-wow, that is a great stereo system. i wouldn't buy the car unless i was loaded and needed a luxory sedan also, but if you want to hear a great factory system, listen to that baby. enjoy your turbo-you will love it.Originally Posted by SLATETT

The parrots are a DIY. They come with ISO connectors that just plug in-line between the head unit and harness. I did mine. The speaker connections are fine, the only thing you have to do is switch one power lead and one mute lead in the parrot harness to align correctly to the Porsche headunit - apparently Porsche does not subscribe to the ISO standard.
