Relatively low tt-rev-limiter can hurt 0-100

Having trouble with clean 0-100s. Rev limiter is reached in no-time flat (tremendous acceleration)....engine shuts down and precious time is lost. Need info on rev limiter....for the tt, is 6750rpm correct?? From the owners manual tried to put together speed vs rev limiter if my 6750 rpm-limit is correct.

With the 3.44 ratio rear axle, 3.82 1st gear, 2.14 second and 1.48 third, I come up with 39 mph, 1st, 69.8 mph 2nd and 96.6 3rd. Are these mph vs. rev-limiter shutdown correct?? Does anyone have a graph showing max-rpm value (i.e., engine shutdown) vs. mile/hr for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears???

I've heard that the tach can't keep up with engine speed (near redline) and sometimes it reads 6500 but the engine is really going 6600 and so on... I really don't know. What I do know is that in 1st and 2nd I have to shift earlier than owner's manual to avoid cut off. It accelerates too fast and when my brain tells my foot to lift..baamm too late - cut off. So my advise, find your own shift point.

Learn to upshift sooner. Just time your shifts correctly and it won't even be a factor. Practice, practice and more practice.

997TT Tips will not shift at redline with SportChrono activated. 996 tips would all shift themselves at redline, and I believe 997's will also, when not in sport mode.

LAT is infamous around these parts
Motorcycles, especially superbikes have been known to rev faster than a tach can and thus use shift lights. Probably a good idea on this car.

Evo software can increase boost and raise the limiter to 7K

With tt's expensive engine and a highly temperamental Porsche car company with respect to warranty problems, I would be highly skeptical of increasing the rev-limiter. Torque and HP at those slightly higher rpms are not increased anyway.......raising the limiter just provides a sure pathway to getting non-warranty/non-insured-payable engine damage.

Understand what you're saying, required practice is a no-brainer, but still would like to see the gear/eng rpm/road speed curve(s), which must be available.

haha yes.. i have problems too, with 1 and 2 gears... it looks like cut off in something like 6500... manual car... looks like tach cant keep up with the engine...

look my video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqHeJFGOqJA
dont looks like the high gears are cutting off, over 6750? looks like 6900

any idea;??

I'm sure this is obvious, but the graph you seek will only be useful for stock wheels/tires. Heads up for future readers in case one is posted.

I found that my Tip hits the rev limiter in manual mode with sport mode selected, which surprised me as I thought it would have shifted up before this happened? Trick would be to change up based on revs at maximum torque I guess?

Not one for automatics what-so-ever, but there needs to be an adjustment on your tranny-engine circuit. Never have heard of an automatic hitting rev-limit before shifting...that was the purpose for automatics in the first place., years ago, so that drivers would not have any worries about such brain to hand-coordination problems.

I have found that the limiter cuts in at 6600 under WOT. It feels like you've hit a wall of foam rubber. Bummer. 7200 would've been a good number for P to aim for. Seems to me that the car is still pulling strong when the cut-off hits, so it's not like there's no usable power up at that end of the RPM range.

flash unit most likely can give you the 7200, but I would be careful with such a mod with warranty issues in mind.
