Intake Thread - GruppeM, Fabspeed, EVOMs, etc..

Well one of my next mods will for sure be an intake and waiting patiently for EVOMS to finish their intake.

Until then lets get a thread going to see the intakes out there today and get some thoughts.

GruppeM
http://www.gruppem.co.jp/news_en/20070305a.htm

We developed the special carbon duct case for 997 TURBO. RAM AIR SYSTEM used maximum space of 997 TURBO engine room. RAM AIR SYSTEM can stop heat temperature inside engine room and can leads cool fresh air from front section. RAM AIR SYSTEM can make more torque and maximum power from middle range rpm to high range rpm than stock intake and you can feel better accelerate and aggressive intake sound.

Fabspeed:

Champion Motorsports: (who is manufacturer?)

Fabspeed would work..but not be very good in slow stop and go traffic. If you want to go fast and dont live in downtown toronto or want to spend 4 grand on an intake, it may be the way to go.

Champion motorsport looks like the best choice...and...well...they're Champion motorsport...they won lemans, have huge cash backing and R&D resources to test tons of different models.

my .2 cents

I'd go champion based on their backing and looks. Are there any gains figures on this?

I like the Designo of the Champions Motorsports Intake compared to Gruppe M and Fabspeed.

I vote for whichever one that does not kill your MAF like the EVO 996tt intake.

Fred, go with GruppeM - I've used their products since 02', they are second to none. There has been a lot of misleading information in the past about GruppeM which is the result of distributor politics, but I have nothing but great things to say about the product. Contact Samir@Rennsport if you're interested.

I am sorry, but the entire set up, irrespective of looks appears to be enitirely a waste of money. Can't add more than 5-6 horsepower and god knows if the set up is as effetive in keeping the bad suff (ie dirt dust etc) out of your engine. Porsche factory set up appears to be very well designed.

The Champion intake definitely looks cool. Not sure how it will perform though.
