What Octane to use?

I am sure this has been discussed before, but I was wondering what is correct Octane to use for the 997 turbo to get max performance out of the car. I have heard that the 91 octane does not give peak performance. Is this true and if so what is the correct Octane and where can I get it?

I tried mixing about 7 gallons of 100 octane with 92 octane gas and it didn't really make a difference. I'd say that probably 92-93 would do it.

Highest you can get at the pump w/ 91 being the minimum. Im sure a few HP is hiding form 91 to 93 but not enough to notice from the seat.

Only 91 in CA unless you get race gas... It takes a little time for car to get used to higher octane. I doubt you'll have that much more power until you chip it.

I do the same Jason every now and then with my 997S. I mix 6-7 gallons of 100 unleaded at Infinion raceway with our crappy 91. You already get the benefit of 92 octane to start with. It brings the Octane to about 93-94 where the car is supposed to run at. I do feel a difference and it is something you can feel comming from 91. It takes at least 20 minutes for your computer to "settle in" so it won't be apparant immediately. I have no idea what it does for the Turbo, remember the Turbo has less compression than a 997S and I think the higher compression car benefits more from higher octane? I see other Porsches, Ferraris, Vetts, and Vipers doing it all the time. I notice that the car revs quicker, runs smoother, and has a bit more punch. The difference can be felt but its not dramatic like chipping a car, etc. Going higher than 94 is just a waste. The 91 octane gas in CA. is poo poo if you ask me.

Giac Flash Loader set at pump gas (91 octane)....runs pretty damn fast to me! Haven't tried race gas, but don't want to spend $5-$6 per gallon either.

I know but I am not comfortable doing that right now (been discussed too much already). Maybe exhaust? I can only speak about my experiences here in Calif. with my 997S but everything is stock so its tuned for 93 Octane I believe? That and the high compression are some of the factors why I feel a bit of a difference. Definately not worth the cost unless you track the thing.

I ran on 100 octane for a while during the summer when the 91 octane here in the Bay Area reaches the price of the 100 (there's a local station with unleaded 100 octane on pump). Honestly, I don't really notice a huge difference in performance (my car is GIAC flashed to run on 91 though). I do notice my car idling more smoothly.

In my S4 I notice that if I put my GIAC flashloader in switch to stock and back to pump mode, then start the car up when I use 100 Octane mixed with 91 the ECU adapts faster. If I run straight 100 at the track I just used the race program.
