I had my windshield on the bimmer replaced a year ago and its already speckled with tiny rock chips it ticks me off. I think the low low hoodline has something to do with the rock chips.

^^^I can't even tell my film is on - just like a windshield. I wonder if your install was not done correct? Is the product Proline?

I went with non oem glass on my BMW windsheild replacement. Fit, finish and quality was top notch. Price was about one third oem.

Not proline, I think it's Madico. The distortion I saw might be from the film still drying out. I also tinted my windshield as well, so it might go away after a while.

Just replaced the windshield on my '07 RS4. Luckily, it was covered under insurance with a minimal deductible.

This chip was horizontal, and spread within a matter of seconds. I had another chip on my bimmer and it was vertical... it hasn't spread much if at all in the last year.

Oh my - I am a member of this club now, even with my film. Have successfully cracked my brand new windshield. Rock hit the very low part of my window today and went right through my film and cracked it. Have an OEM on order at Porsche. In 2600 miles, have now replaced a wheel and a windshield - not a good start!

Insurance companies are obligated to except OEM parts request. I have had a few windshields replaced on various cars and learned a long time ago to not allow non OEM on a valuable car as the quality is not the same.

I have never made a claim to insurance before; do you guys think its a bad idea to put the windshield replacement through insurance or should I just pay cash and get it done with the dealer?

Jody, yes, typically the chip repairs are free - Novus did some on my past cars and did a great job. Sorry to hear you got a chip - be sure to get it repaired before a crack starts!

My insurance company authorized a Porsche OEM windshield but only $40 per hour for install, so I have to make up the difference plus a $500 deductible.

I couldn't live with it, get a new windshield. I've been driving for a long time and have never had a chip - knock on wood.
