Mine came with Bridgestones. Most of my Pcars in the past had Pirellis. These Bridgestones seem to have alot of road noise, espcially on non-smooth asphalt roads. Which tires are the best and have the least road noise?

They all have road noise at these sizes, the Michelins on my 996 were great for a few weeks then as loud as anything. The Bridgestones aren't too bad, but after I wear them out it's time for some PS2s.

My 997S came with Michelin PS2's. The Turbo came with Bridgestones. If you get Bridgestones take Chris's advice and swap them out before taking delivery. I was going to do that and then I backed off. Now I am sorry I passed on it.

Well I got lucky! My 997 TT getting prepped right now at the dealership comes with PS2's. Even though in 4 weeks I will be getting my wheels on and PS2 in 20's - its nice to have them now in the mean time!

Gradyex - I hope you find a good solution to your floating issue - maybe the Techart C/O will help out. I would like to know a good solution. I was hoping that perhaps lowering them on springs would help resolve the problem or at the very least reduce it.

I will try out Bilsteins when they get some in the states. Right now it seems they are in limited release.

Alpine 997, you lucked out with the Michelins and must be totally excited about your car! I think the tires are just a small part of the problem and i would be interested in anyone experienceing the same issues posting them along with their options mainly: (1) What tires you are using? (2) does your car have LSD? (3) Did you have alignment issues on delivery? and (4) did you opt for Ceramics? I should start a seperate thread too.

I may take my car to Sharkworks and have Alex take her for a spin to get his opinion. Alpine 997, drive your car in good health, congrats!

Thanks gradyex. I will let you know how it feels when I get it before and after I lower it with springs. I will take it to my alignment guy outside of Porsche and have him dial it in for me in Stock form. I will get readouts from the dealership and at my friends place.

I have a few sweeping roads that I can test this out on safely and give some feedback. I am also curious as to the street settings my friend will use on my Turbo. He has dialed out the floatly-unplanted feel out of my M5 after BMW aligned it. It was night and day.

I know of your floatly feeling in my M5 because it made me nervous at times. I said something to him and he knew exactly what I was talking about. afterwards I took it out past the 150mph mark and it was smooth and planted.

I am very excited and will be leaving to pick her up in 30 mins or so.

I agree I got lucky on the Michelins!!

Maybe you should start a stats poll to get an answer on the questions you have posted here. I would be interested to see.

Please keep this alive as I would like to know the end result for you and perhaps other owners that experiencing this issue/feel.
