Something available for night-time speedsters??

Difficult to do any >85 on expressways at night even with moderate traffic flow with V1. Fuzz sees you, you can't see them. Have heard Hummer H has night vision capability (7-inch albine LCDs displayed in cabin) to see objects down the median at fairly long distances. Has anyone heard of such an item for sale through after-market??

1. Paint car flat black (for dramatic purposes)
2. Take car to highway
3. Shut off all lights
4. Put on industrial night vision goggles

When I read this it came in my head that someone in a lambo did this every night.

About 6 years ago a police office could not understand why his radar would go nuts at around the same time in the same spot. He took out numerouse other cops to show them what is going on and noone could pin point it. UFO? umm surely not.

So one night they had spot lights set up on the highway to turn on with the switch of a button.

Low and behold a man in a Lambo was transporting cocain with night vision glasses from Houston to OK City! Must have had some ***** that guy

My answere to this thread:

first if you are going 120 in a tt why stop anyways? and get yourself a wire kit. It enables you to slightly pull the ebrake and it diss ables the rear break lights. if you see them dissable lights and turn off headlights and run for it. ican assure you noone is catching you

I read an interesting article about a guy trying to beat a fedex package from NYC to Miami. He had a co-pilot with him to help with spotting five-O's. They had nightvision goggles and a police scanner, plus the standard V1. The nightvision goggles seem interesting. Does anyone know what the maximum effective range is for one of these babies?

I am sure the nightvision goggles have the distance capability, but they require someone in the car to be using them. Tough job for just a driver to look throught them and the road ahead at >90mph. A good pair is around $1K. I like the Cadillac and Hummer H1 system, but getting info from the many nightvision websites show prices are most likely >$10K. I guess you could get a salvage one from a wreaked vehicle within a decent price range. The Cad and Hummer system have a small TV screen (like our GPS screen) to watch while the unit scans the medium/parking lane ahead (1-mile range). Sounds like a great system for night driving.

I dot know how difficult it would be for the P-car, but with the "old" beamer it was not that difficult, but that was 25+ years ago

But I am sure it is doable, maybe not a DIY but doable

Apparently no one realized that If you turn off your lights, other motorists cannot see you and may pull in front of you...

This reminds me of the movie "Redline" where Don Johnson's son is using night vision goggles at the beginning of the movie. I wouldn't recommend it unless your playing with fire because eventually you'll get burned.

Moogle you might be right, but we are talking about a hypotethical chase by the cops, so without lights it would be up to the speeder to make sure you do not hit/get hit by other traffic while driving without your lights

I am not advertising anybody should do it, but it has saved me a lot of headaches in the distant past

Sounds like a extremely bad idea. No reasonable trade-off. Hit and kill someone....life time or near life time in jail. And then you could lose your life too. All this for a traffic ticket...looks no-brainer to me.

Johnww I agree life is more valuable, although you are talking about speeds that would cost a lot more then just a speeding ticket

You are looking at jail time, confiscation of vehicle etc
