Previous 996TT owners- compare to your 997TT

I would like to hear from previous 996TT owners about the likes, dislikes, and differences between the 996TT and the 997TT.

Faster, even compared to the X50.

Infinitely nicer interior.

A little more "squirrely" at high speeds turns, until you fix alignment issues.

A little less lag.

Nicer key fob...

Although I owned at least 5 of them, I quite disliked the 996tt. It was heavy, ponderous and cheaply appointed. At initial tip in, it was like pulling away in a '71 Ford half ton. I thought the regular 996 was much nicer to drive and sounded better.

The 997tt is far better imho. It feels lively and responsive - light even, when compared to the 996tt. The one downside is that it's hard to tune. I have stage III and it still feels pretty slow.

Why would you buy a car that you dislike x5????? You are also aware that the 997 TT is as heavy if not more?

I do agree the 997 as a whole is a much better interior, the 996 is solid, but there is no character AT ALL, the interior is like watching hunting shows. I think the 997 TT is better in every area but modability, some handling aspects, and the front fascia and headlights.

Porsche lists the 996 TT at 3475 and the 997 TT at 3494, we all know that actual weights often differ, but still irrelevant, to a car "feeling" heavy.

Not to belabor the point, but a 2003 911 Turbo weighed 3394.9 lbs for the manual, 3494.1 for the TipS empty weight before options. So the weight is actually significantly more on the 997s.

Light years apart in interior. The feel is more responsive but not as anchored. The tunable aspect will grow like 996TT has.

Most of the 997TTs I've seen are delivered with the alignment specs off...
