997.1 - 997.2 - KLINE Innovations Exhaust - 6speed member discounts available
We're happy to now offer the KLINE exhaust line for your 997.1 and 997.2 turbos. Picking the most appropriate exhaust for any given setup can be quite a task for any given car/platform. There are many factors to consider when choosing an exhaust but the main one is:
SOUND
Changing the exhaust is, first and foremost, a sound upgrade as much as a power upgrade and KLINE has impressed with their work in both of these areas to say the least. Speaking with the folks at KLINE has made us realize that they are truly experts in this area. One key comment that was made during our discussion on the exhaust was by their exhaust designer speaking about the tone of the exhaust in musical octaves. It struck home immediately that these guys knew exactly what exhaust design was primarily about and given the size of the piping was right where we wanted it for OEM VTG turbos we decided to bring them on-board as vendors we'd love to endorse.
Many folks tend to lose focus of the fact that an exhaust is like an instrument for your engine. What you're doing is sound engineering while ensuring power isn't lost and if possible, power is gained by introducing it. Power gains can certainly be had with aftermarket exhausts especially so by relieving backpressure on engines with forced induction where turbos are involved but the sound is the primary concern especially in a remarkable car such as a 911.
We've been tuning our 997.1 turbo with the DECAT version of the exhaust for the past two months and we have to say we have found it to meet if not exceed all of our expectations. Given power levels the OEM VTG turbos can produce we knew that going with 70mm (2.75") piping at this time would provide the necessary flow to get the most out of the car at this time. Testing it on our Mustang 1750-DE dyno has shown it to provide significant gains in power while reducing lag noticeably over the OEM exhaust. Most of the power gains and response naturally are there from the much freer flowing exhaust piping which allows for higher boost levels and more advanced ignition timing in our tuning. Just as much as the power gains though it is remarkable how much its managed to improve the sound. Under cruise, light load, even with the decat version of the exhaust there is absolutely no drone in the cabin and the exhaust is very civil without affecting daily drivability. Under full load (WOT) it is simply glorious! Both thumbs up to the guys at KLINE for doing a really impressive job.
Exhaust is available in 3 material choices: Stainless Steel, Titanium and Inconel 625!
Here are some pictures of the exhaust during installation on our 997.1 at the shop:
