Thumbs down Boost Leakage?

I have had my 997 TT for only 1900 miles and this weekend when i was driving the car i start hearing a large hissing sound everytime i engage boost like the car has some kind of loud aftermarket blow off valve.

I continue driving and the engine just shuts off in the middle of the road and i have to restart the car and it happens again 2 more times.

I took it to the dealer this afternoon and barely made the drive there as when i go over 2-3k rpm the car stutters and sometimes makes a clanking noise along with the hissing noise.

Pretty scary for such a new car.

Waiting for the diagnosis and crossing my fingers.

I've had this and it's no big deal at all. It's the rubber housing connecting to the plenum that's loose and causing a loss of boost pressure. A screw driver is all that's needed to tighten the clamp. 2 minute fix at most.

I had the exact same issue after the dealer fixed an A/C leak. They hadn't tightened the rubber housings enough and I got the identical symptoms as you have described.

Yeah it was hose that loosened. I wonder if this is a common problem with the turbos.

I do not even have any mods on the car yet so it was not like i was running high boost to cause this problem.

I am wondering how much the dealer would have finger pointed if I had things done to the car with aftermarket performance mods.

Thanks for the help guys. This board is great.

Glad that everything worked out great and they found the problem.

Glad it worked out. I don't think it's a common problem and because its a quick and obvious fix I don't think a dealer would have given you any grief. My dealer didn't and I'm running just over 600hp. They went in to fix an AC compressor leak and didn't reassemble the rubber hoses correctly to the plenum.
