997 C2 Discounts?

I am new to the forums and am considering placing an order for a new C2. The best deal I've been able to be able to get so far is $4,500 off an MSRP of $80,645, or about 5.5%. Is this a good deal? or is there more wiggle room? I am in Connecticut and have seen several posts from members indicating discounts in the 7 to 10% off range.

Thanks

most of the larger discounts are on models that are higher in allocation. C2S etc. C2 coupe's are probably the most limited in the Carrera Range, and as such harder to get bigger discounts on (depends on dealer, your exp. may vary). also, depending on your market and dealer, that may be all you can get on an ordered unit. in some markets, you would be doing well to get that off an in stock unit. now, if you are talking about a 2007 model, then it is a whole different ballgame. in that case, be thinking 10 -13% off, depending on options, color, etc.

feel free to PM me or give me a call and I'd be glad to offer more personal advise based on the exact car you're talking about, etc. just b/c I don't sell you a car doesn't mean I can't help you get a good deal

If you don't mind picking up one that is a year or so old, you can save a ton by getting a used one. You can get an S model for less than the cost of the new Carrera, plus you can use the money saved to get a certified preowned warranty. The options on these cars really drive the price up and when it comes to resale value the options don't always hold their value.

Thanks - My original intent was to find a pre-owned '06 or '07 but the asking prices that I am seeing for such cars are pretty close to the price of a new, lightly optioned '08. I am very picky and for not much extra cash I'm thinking that I can get exactly what I want on a car with no unknown history.

I was at the dealer yesterday, he was showing me C4s and that was 101K to 105k and he was telling me he can give me 10k off from the top before any negotiations had begun, so there must be room in that model.

to my knowledge it's its not earth shattering. here is my guess:

MY09 997 Facelift
DFI adds 10 to 15hp to each engine mpg also goes up a touch.
a few new wheel designs.
a couple of new colors
subtle redesign of front facia/air intakes. see spy photos on various sites.
poss. subtly redesign on rear bumper as well.
update tail lights, LED's. poss slightly diff. shape. (see spy pics)
poss reshape of foglight/turnsignal housing in front bumper
interior: no changes. Ipod/media interface exclusive option. (tequipment now, just released)

def. possible. on C4S. 10K is just under 10% on cars that list in that range. plus, not sure about your area, but between 4S coupe, Targa and Cabs, I am getting 2x as many 4S cars as I am C2's. now, on an 08 10K off a C4S is crazy aggressive, and I would suspect his motivation is to make end of year #'s look good. If it's an 07 you're leaving money on the table (IMO $12-15K). If that is for an 08' I would jump on that if you're in the market, honestly I couldn't beat it, considering It'd have to be shipped.

I'm a live in the moment kind of guy so waiting for an unconfirmed '09 facelift is not an option - plus I've got to imagine that if the car is changed, demand will increase and good deals won't be as easy to get. As it is, I am stretching my budget to get an'08.

Any recommendations for dealers who are willing to discount SIGNIFICANTLY in the CT/NY/NJ area?

I bought from Porsche of Wallingford (I wanted a C4 and they had one of the few around) and was pleased with the deal (though the car was in inventory). I have heard of people getting descent discounts from Hoffman this time of year. I also know people who have bought Audis and BMWs from New Country and they have been aggressive on pricing (don't know anyone who has bought a Porsche from them though). Bottom line is that though people like to shoot for discounts near 10%, it is a fairly strong number and you'll need to shop around and find a dealer who is hungry to sell. A C2 order is probably one of the more popular cars, so a discount may be tougher to get. If price is a big issue, you may want to search the area for a car on someone's lot that is similar to what you want. Also, Manhattan Motorcars had a couple of 2007 C2S leftovers on ebay recently. If memory serves, they were 78K for cars that stickered around 91K. You may want to see if they are still available.

That's not a bad idea. Hope I can afford/justify one in 2012.
