By any chance is this car in Pasadena? If it is my wife and I test drove it....nice car. We decided on Red/Black interior and bought one used with a Tip 3k miles at a dealership in Sacramento with an original sticker price of 104k for 75K. We were lucky. I don't think that the Targa sells that well in California so you have to be carefull with resale. Most people want a Cab in So California. If you don't care about resale and plan to keep the car for a long time then buy it. I love my Targa and I have owned covertible MB SLs....been there and done that. I love the convenience of a Targa, its looks, and its rarity ....I don't think that 10 +/- 1 % off is unreasonable. Most people were getting 9+% for left over 07s I saw some listing as much as 15%..but those were cars with bigger sticker and more options. I would offer 88k and if you want the car settle for 90k. Your other option is to look for a used one with low milage. I just saw one in Ohio a Targa 4 "S" Tip for 92k Red/black with 4500 miles. Think about it its an "S" for almost the same price.
Good Luck,
abe

A friend bought a targa here for about 20k under msrp a few months back. Sometimes they are hard to sell I guess.

Abe911,

Yes it's the one at Rusnak and congrats on your color combo! How hard was it to negotiate 30K off your car considering that you are so far way?

Neil.schneider,
Was the 20K off from a 2007 leftover or a trade in?

Thanks both of you!

They were selling it for 79..then a one week special for 75.9 and I was able to get it for 75. This was from the dealer...the history and I confirmed it since some docs were left in the car was that an estate bougth it for the owner while he was waiting for his Targa 4S. The car only had a few chips in the front bumper. Keep in mind that the car had 3k miles so its not like I had to negotiate from 100+ down...it was already there. Maybe slow economy and fear in the bay are/sacramento was helpfull.....this was just after all the stuff with housing loans and Countrywide was laying off..I don't know. I still think that car in Ohio is a great car...an "s" targa. If they offer me both for the same price I would take the "S" with 4k miles than a new non S...IMHO. But if color is important...than forget the S get what you want.
By the way I sat in your car Nov 30th on a rainny day....sorry if I got it wet for you.
Drove to the RoseBowl and back. The sales person was Primo Garcia....very nice guy.
Keep in mind the resale....why not buy used with a few miles and let someone else take a hit.....
on the other hand if this guys are hungry and take 20k off as the previous guy mentioned, then its a no brainer.
Let me know if you buy it or if you have any other questions please be free to send me a pm.
Good Luck.

Thanks.

Most dealers were going to give me about $7000-$9000 off 2008 Base Carrera 2s and I had another dealer at $11,000 off on a $88000 Leftover New 2006 Carrera 4.

Deals are to be had and Great financing is available right now.

I bought a a new 2007 C2S w/aerokit for 78k last month. MSRP with the aerokit was around 97k. Yell03 got roughly the same discount as I did, so I would expect atleast 15% for you as well.

I have new 2007 targa s. It is beautiful and on the east coast it is very marketable. It is amazing what a roll cage will do when needed
