cabrio body flex
cabrio body flex
Whenever I go up my drive and i start up the drive at an angle so that most of the weight of my 997 is at the driver's front and rear passenger wheels (diagonal opposites) i can feel and even hear the body flex. especially with the top up. it isn't a lot, but i do notice it. anyone else have that problem? do you think strut braces will help?
I noticed flex at the track but not so much on the street with my 06 997S. I did notice some cowl shake on the street going over a bumpy road with the top down. I do not know if strut braces will help. I asked a few distributors that question and non would guarantee anything.
i thought 997 and late 996 comes with strut bar in front. all 996-997 comes with rear strut bar.
flex you hear is the roof header rubbing against the windshield header. nothing to worry about.

The cab is reportedly quite rigid. I would hope that going up a driveway would not bend it. Could you imagine trying to jack it up if that were the case? I get some moans and groans in my coupe on occasion. Suspension, rubber seals or somesuch. I would not worry about bending your car
Even in my coupe, I can hear it creak and flex when entering a driveway at that angle. One front wheel usually lifts in the air too. My friends 997 GT3, I notice, is much much stiffer. Pretty sure its normal and within design specs....

I agree on normalcy. I have an s turn right outside my driveway and when i accelerate i hear the bending or flexing of the roof but it is only because it is a cab. If it were a coupe i would be much more concerned. Cabs have certain noises and quirks that coups do not have, but sunny days make up for the strange or unique noises. I bought mine knowing that there will be rattles and noises that i cannot control. Even though i have made my car aggravating proof (at least until tomorrow when something else needs attention. Peace yall.
all cabs will flex.. wait, let me rephrase that, all convertible will flex.. my dad's bimmer does that when it goes up a drive way or even when you take spirited turns.. when i go up really steep driveways in my 996 coupe, i can here a little flex, and a wheel sometimes feels off the ground.. its normal..

strut braces will not work.. Ive owned many different convertible cars and they all have the same problem. When you take a giant section of the roof off there is going to be flex. Nothing you can do about it.
