Factory Sport Exhaust Upgrade?
They have no legal grounds for such a policy. This is fragrantly posturing to keep aftermarket tuning to a minimum.
I'd say it all comes down to personal taste.
The PSE weighs a bit more than stock and apparently doesn't make any more hp or torque than stock. However, if you're a bone stock kind of guy, it does allow you more exhaust volume while retaining 100% Porsche parts.
There is no "adjustment ****" and if your dealer said that, I'd be a bit scared.
There is an on/off button inside the cabin that allows you to "activate" the sport exhaust. At least in the US, the exhaust also automatically lowers the volume at certain speeds.
I really like the fact that you can get some more sound out of the too subdued 997 motor with the PSE but if it were my $, I'd probably go aftermarket and look into either AWE or Tubi.

I bailed on the PSE option. Friend has 997S Cab and he dyno'd the car with no HP increase.
+ 1
With the PSE you get a complete System . Designed by the Engineers who designed the car . Not by someone who welds mufflers in his garage.
When accelerating agressively ( at speeds below ~ 50 mph ) the PSE valves are designed to close , thereby increasing the backpressure (for more torque ) and open again at higher speeds for less resistance .
With the valves open , 2/3 of the mufflers get bypassed.
I would think that would reduce the backpressure by quite a bit ( probably less resistance than most aftermarket jobs)
Just because Porsche does not advertise any power gains does not mean there are none .
Unlike the aftermarket muffler welders, Porsche has to PROVE it, not just make ridiculous claims based on Dyno tests from Joe's garage.
Either way , I did not buy the PSE to get 2 or 3 more HP .I love the sound.
It sounds like a Porsche , not like a suped up Honda on steroids .

Here's a sample clip of the PSE fully open (sorry for the garage acoustics).

Absolutely sinister. I will never leave this option off the list from here forward.
My salesman told me that it had no horsepower benefits when we spoke about it before purchase.

Hey guys, the head mechanic of Collection in Miami has the AWE system for his 997.1 C2S. I heard it and it was like music... it sounds amazing. I would definitely suggest the AWE system. AWE has a 'LOUD' exhaust option which does not appear on their website. The head mechanic told me that they produce it specifically for the Collection. but I don't know what they have for 997.2
I have the Cargraphic Medium Exhaust on my 997.1, and it is music to my ears. It sounds like the PSE but at "10" on the volume **** versus "8" for the PSE.
Excellent sound. I have no sound clips, unfortunately...

I have a 997.2 and it was built in Jan so I couldn't get PSE.
I installed the Sharkwerks Crossover Pipes and they have good manners at low RPM'S and very aggressive at the higher RPM's . they were only $1,000 and I have my original center muffler for resale etc.
Also I picked up some Horsepower.

I just got a 08 C4S with sport exhaust & aero kit. The car is brand new, only 35 miles. Here's my ?, if I turn on or off the sport exhaust, the sound is exactly the same?? It always sounds pretty loud/sporty. Not to complain, its amazing, however my only concern is the sound is always the same whether its turned on or off! Help? Suggestions? Advice??
Thanks
