Factory Sport Exhaust Upgrade?

Hi Guys,

As some of you know I'am on order with my new C4S, delivery beginning June 08.

My dealer wants to know if I made my final decision with the exhaust.

Should I leave it original for now or should I go with the sport exhaust upgrade for $3000.00 CAN.

The dealer told me there's an adjustment **** in the car that I can raise or lower the volume of the exhaust. Could someone who has one or experienced one tell me if it's worth it?

If I wait what after market exhaust do you guys reccomend me to look into.

Thanks for any suggestion and help with my new toy.

See ya guys

Porsche Sport Exhaust or PSE is all about sound, there are no performance gains from this system. The system is turned on when the sport button is activated it does go quiet between 30 and 50KM/h, it can also be turned on at all the time be unplugging the control wire.

I think that you should hear it before you spend the $3000, I have it and I pulled it out in place of my aftermarket system (you can get a lot more sound for the same money from the tuners).

I have had the PSE and it sounds great. However, I personally would go aftermarket and get some performance gains. Europipe, tubi, fabspeed, etc- all of them sound different.

What aftermarket Cats do you have and how much did you gain in horsepower?

How much do aftermarket cats retail for in general.

Check Out AWE site, I think that they make great products, Mike ate AWE is a great guy, and will spend the time to educate you.

www.awe-tuning.com

I have Evo Mufflers and Headers, great stuff as well but less support from them.

I'd say it all comes down to personal taste.

The PSE weighs a bit more than stock and apparently doesn't make any more hp or torque than stock. However, if you're a bone stock kind of guy, it does allow you more exhaust volume while retaining 100% Porsche parts.

There is no "adjustment ****" and if your dealer said that, I'd be a bit scared.

There is an on/off button inside the cabin that allows you to "activate" the sport exhaust. At least in the US, the exhaust also automatically lowers the volume at certain speeds.

I really like the fact that you can get some more sound out of the too subdued 997 motor with the PSE but if it were my $, I'd probably go aftermarket and look into either AWE or Tubi.

Love the PSE that you can turn on and off the valve.
And sound of the PSE is amazing. And it is under Porsche warranty too.

Most of the exhausts are cats back. I went with europipe and 100 cell cats on 996 tt. On the 997S, they were quoting 16 hp gain and same weight as stock.

I say go for the Porsche system. I couldnt be happier with it. It sounds great when on, and when ur not in the mood for all that noise, you can turn it off with the sports button. 100% warranty, and doesnt reduce the value of the car like u would if u put an aftermarket system.

horespower gains from aftermarket systems are nothing to brag about either...but at the end of the day its all preference.

I wouldn't imagine that a used car with a good aftermarket system would reduce the value of the car. You may not be able to get more for the mods, but I really doubt it would effect the value in a negative way.

Agree. It's not going to reduce the value!

I have the PSE on my 997S and couldn't be happier. Initially, you will think that you don't need the off switch, but will come to use it. I had aftermarket (Fabspeed) on my 996 and there was some drone.

For those who have made the "no power gains" point, while it is true that Porsche claims no power; why is it the stock system with the X51 power option if it's in any way a bottlenecking factor?

I have had this convo with the people at the Porsche Dealership where i bought my car and they said it would definitely decrease the value of the car.

You also cannot trade in a porsche unless its 100% porsche parts
