RemoteKey / SmartTop: Any NoVa shops???

I want to have the RemoteKey installed in my car....I can do it myself but I don't really want to mess with the wires.

I asked Currys Auto Shop and they quoted me $330/3hrs to install.

Anyone recommend any local shops in the VA/DC/MD area that can have it done for less?

Thanks!!!!!!111

Are you serious? $330? This should only take an hour or so and if you have any experience with electronics, it is an easy install. I say do it yourself. I will be doing mine next week.

The install is simple. You need a set of Torox drivers.

The install process should take max 30 minutes!

The instructions are great and simple to follow.

Do it yourself. I did 2 of the older generation ones that were much harder to wire in and still only took about an hour the first time.

OMG If you're THAT lame with electricals you DESERVE to pay $500 to have it installed.

(1) Can you follow directions?

If it takes you 30 minutes even without prior experience you're fairly lame.

Are you crazy? If I live locally I will swing by and install for you and charge you $200 EZ money. Seriously, you can do it, man! I just received my SmartTop & RemoteTop a couple days ago. Bought them through group buy from GMP. It took me 1 hour to do both units.

Get yourself a T12 socket. Open the two front bolt then the back two. Push the electric seat to middle position and fold the back rest all the way. Tilt the seat back so it stay put and you can now see the unit locate on the cabin floor underneat the seat. Unplug the light blue plug. Plug in the RemoteTop unit with white label up to the main brain. Make sure to leave the most left 4 pins alone. Now, plug the blue plug to the RemoteTop unit. On the right side of the brain next to the blue plug is a black plug. Locate the two wire with Red/Brown & Brown colors. Tap in these wire with the small plug with red wire & brown wire. The Red wire to Red/Brown and the Brown wire to Brown wire. Plug the small plug to the far left of the 4 pins. You are done! Put the seat back bolt them down.

I'm an idiot when it comes to DIY projects. I was afraid to do this myself, but it was incredibly simple and took me 15 minutes.

DIY!

Thanks daytrader and also everyone else for your input. I finally got to set aside some time and work on it and it was a success!!! It's simple once you actually start working on it even though on occasion I stuck the male pins in the wrong female holes but it's all good

It works like a charm although I wish there was a much better menu for changing the settings or maybe a way to do it through hooking it up to a computer

Congratulations on doing it yourself. I agree the setup is a little awkward, but you only need to do it once.
