That's true - CITGO is Venezuela-owned.

i own a bunch of mobil gas stations and after being in the biz i can say this: Among the top named franchises (Exxon, Mobil, Shell, Sunoco, BP) they are pretty much the same. If you can get 94 oct from Sunoco thats all the better, aside from that its pretty much the same. The way i go about it is this, if you see a name brand and the station is presentable (clean, modern, and busy) then u should be in good shape, if its a no name, or a brand name and is in poor condition, just move on. Personally i like Mobil and Sunoco

forgot to add, a busy station has higher turnover of fuel and therefore the fuel doesnt settle for long in the underground tanks, the real problems are from dirty tanks. As far as the info some people are saying about more or less detergent, there is some truth to that in the sense that higher octanes have more cleaning solvents in them which does help.

Isn't it also true to avoid getting gas when the station itself is taking a delivery from the tanker truck because it stirs up all the sediments etc from the bottom of the station's tank(s).

The first tank of gas in a new 911 is always the best gas. It's German.
