chrome or polish lip?

Guys,

I need some help. Not only for cosmetic reasons but for maintenance. I want to get wheels with black center but not sure if I should get it with chrome lip or polished?

TIA

Raj

I think the chrome will be harder to take care of. I would go polished because of this and also because I think chrome is too bling and only adds weight.

Polished is easy to take care of. No experience with Chrome.

I went with chrome. Very easy to clean.

My friend has an e55 amg with HRE's, his lips are polished with clear coat. The coat stained his lip and now the lip is dull.

Chrome has no place on a Porsche rim......IMHO.
If this is a 2 or 3 piece wheel, part of that the beauty is the inner & outer barrels can be easily seperated and repaired. Chrome is difficult to repair, more expensive to replace, adds weight, and does not enhance the strength of the part.

If upkeep is an issue (shouldn't be) you might consider clear coating a polishied part.
And, BTW, brushed and powder coated (clear) is pretty cool too....no maintenance.

Good luck.

The weight of chrome plating is of no consequence, but the unfortunate fact that it cannot be repaired is. It is also subject to corrosion from deicing salts. Stay with a polished finish.

From my experience, the chrome lips are easier to clean and take care of. The polish lips are so sensative, it is crazy. The chrome lips are little more reflective but I bet the average person couldn't tell between a polish and chrome lip.

Get chrome lip. The polished lips are a joke to maintain as they oxidize and show micro sratches that even with 6 hrs of mothers polish u can still see.

Chrome lips can be cleaned with windex and do not show these scratches and also look pretty much like a brand new polished lip.

I agree that if you get chrome face and lip it will look horrible but you are only getting chrome lip so it looks fine on a p car.
