Quick question about purchasing out of state
Quick question about purchasing out of state
I've been looking around for a 911 cab the last couple of months and I've narrowed the search to a couple of dealers on the East coast, NY and VA.
Since the car would be shipped to CA, would there any issues with establishing a relationship with a dealer you didn't purchase the car from? Some offer free lifetime oil changes and loaners if you purchase from them, etc.
Should there be anything else I should be concerned about?
Any advice would be appreciated.
TIA!
Enrique

Are you buying a Camry or a Porsche? Seriously, I have never heard of free oil changes. As far as loaners, I didn't buy may car from the closest dealer to me. However, I went in to the local dealer for a PCM reprogram and while I was there, I asked the service manager about service, loaners etc. and got no push-back even though I had bought the car elsewhere. In fact, the work I had done that day (which was not warranty work) was done gratis.
I bought my from Pioneer Porsche and they offer free oil change at scheduled maintenance for both my Cayenne and 997 for as long as I own the car. It is not transferable though. I don't think there is any problem establish a relationship with a local dealer for servicing if you have bought a car from out of state. Most dealer makes more money on service than selling a vehicle of time. They want yo money.
1) The worst case scenario would be something like this : you buy an out of state car with a warranty and find out that some broken part voids that aspect of warranty. The "as is" clause relinquishes the used car seller and if you want to talk to the dealership who serviced that car they are 1500 miles away. I read this type of example on another form with regard to a BMW where the guy really went through an ordeal .
2) Now the good news - Your relationship with service has nothing to do with sales . In fact if the sales staff sees that you bought a car from somewhere else they might actually consider offering you a better deal on your NEXT car .
