New Tires

Hey guys...

New to the forum and new to Porsche. I have an 06 997 Cab that is now due for its first set of tires. Those PZero's did not last past 10k very long... What are you guys running on them? Michelin PS2s? Bridgestones? Or PZeros? I don't track the car, but I do drive them on the horrific streets of Philly... Thanks

Personally, I will only run Michelin PS2's. They cost a bit more than other brands, and will still only get you around 12k miles on the rear, but they perform brilliantly. Tires are a major continual cost on these cars. Suck it up, drive it like you stole it, and don't think about it.

I've got a set of P-Zeros (came with the car) - the rears lasted 22K on the crappy roads of MA... the fronts are still fine. The rears got VERY loud around 20K... but all in all great tires... maybe I just drive like a woose

I think the PZero's are terrible tires, I pulled mine off and am on a set of PS2's. Too early to give you a fair review, but I went with them as they are well liked by many different people.

My 05 C2S came with P-Zeros. I liked them initially. When I finally ran through two rears, and it was time to replace the fronts, I chose the PS-2. It was the most amazing difference! The ride is better, they are quieter, and feel more responsive. Can't comment on wear yet. I will definitely spend the extra dollars for the Michelins!

Thanks guys... I guess I will go with the PS2s... Now the next question to answer for myself is whether to spend 2k for tires or 6k for tires and wheels!!!

You should also check into the Bridgestone RE050A N0. For the price of the P-Zero rears, you can get 4 of the Bridgestones. They're more comfortable than the Pirellis and quieter as well. Tire wear ratings are lower than the aforementioned tires, but if you're doing mostly street driving, the Bridgestones are a great value IMO.

I just shopped for new tires. Best price was my local Porsche dealer: $450 per rear (plus tax). Tire Rack is $486 plus shipping.

I have Bridgestone Potenza's on my Cab. It came with it originally with the lobster wheels and I can't complain. I like the thread design and it performs well for daily driving.
