It seems some '08 and certainly the '09 997 got oversize side mirrors. Is this a new regulation? Because it seems some euros are getting oversize side mirrors...

I started to notice when I got my '08 new C


these are just ridiculous, everytime I get in I feel like driving an SUV...

it seems the oversize have gotten into the new 997 as well, any comments?

I'd be surprised if it's a US regulation; I'd likely expect it's a European regulation.
Regardless, I am just glad I've got a pre-'09 997S, as my mirrors are nice and small. Maybe that's a silver lining to having less than the latest model!

 

Yes, its a new european regulation I believe.

 

The car I saw in Germany seems to be a NA model (check out the license plate), the mirrors look bigger then the first gen 997's but not too huge.

That does not sound right as the new E92 M3 mirrors are pretty small and it is a new car.

 

actually looks nice if the tail lights were the way it looked with the stealth sticker on it. not the sticker on it itself but in that design

 

A friend of mine that works for one of the big German car makers told me that the reason the size of the mirrors are being increased is due to low satisfaction scores on JD power when the question was added a couple years ago.
