dino ramp

Question- TIA
Would bone-stock 997 front clear the ground when backing up on DINO RAMP? Any tips for using dino ramps to work under the car?

Look at race ramps (site sponsor), as they have a gradual incline. For sure your front will clear, as my GT3 had no problems.

You can back up the rear of the car onto Dino Ramps and the front will not scrape the ground but I don't think there is any way to drive the front wheels onto DINO ramps. IMO

If that answers what you were asking?

yes, I'm trying to decide what would be the best way to elevate the rear to work on the exhaust. Seems like the ramp would be the easiest and safest, agree?

Get the wider gray ones for SUV's it will work better with the 911.

You may just want to put it on jack stands because with a couple of my muffler replacements I had to remove the wheel to get the muffler in and out.

I guess I'll try the ramp first. If unable, then wheels go off and jack stand it is. Thanks.

I just reinstalled my factory mufflers today using the rhino ramps and I didn't have to take off the rear wheels to reinstall them (or to remove them originally). It does help to remove the metal bracket that connects to the edge of the wheel well behind the rear wheels to get the extra room needed to manuever the mufflers out and in. It's a 10mm bolt on top and a torx at the fender.

I back up onto the SUV rhino ramps which as others have said work nicely since they are wider for my oil changes. My father also uses them with his Esprit. His 285 rear tires fit but just barely.

I just took my exhaust off too. Jacked the car up with the wheels on and used three pieces of 2x6 under each wheel. It works fine but my wife is giving me static about a "Porsche up on blocks". I have to keep the garage door closed.

If her nagging is worth $30 to you I believe that is the amount that I paid for the ramps at the local Walmart.

I don't think I took the tire off for the stock muffler either.

But I did to for the Remus as they are a little bigger. Plus they come with a new and different metal bracket that you mentioned.

Wheels don't need to come off when putting the car on jack stands. It takes me literally 3 minutes to get the car up on jack stands. IMO I think it's the best way to work on the car.

Oh its not nagging. It is giving me **** for having a $100,000 car up on blocks - without mufflers - that I can't drive. She says its bad for the neighborhood image.

Nagging is reserved for cleaning out the spare parts in the garage.
