X-51 Airbox - worth it?

The X-51 Carbon Fiber airbox is a nice looking unit - and at about $1,000 at Suncoast, I wonder if it would be worth installing on my 997S.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

You also will have to cut out the 2nd (right side) air intake opening on your stock deck lid. This air box alone will do nothing for power with out other mods to get the air out of the engine faster plus a ECU retune such as Softronic software, however it sure looks nice!

The X51 box looks very nice. I would go that way if I didn't have the Evo box.

Thinking it may be the way to go. This would be combined with Softronic, X51 headers and AWE 200 cell cats...was reading the plenum threads - what a mess!

Leave your PSE mufflers as is, I have a similar set up and it allows my to be quieter when I need to be. (leaving/coming Home, track, cops near by).

I have it, no regrets. Not for the faint of heart as a do it yourself install.

I have it too. Did it with the headers(ebay/suncoast). I am happy with the results and it looks great.

I am not sure on the power as I have never put the car on a dyno but it definitely has an improved throttle response.

A definite way to get more power would be to change the Air Filters to a higher flow after market version. But frankly I haven't wanted to do this do to my perception that these filters would let more dirt get in, increasing the engine wear which is not worth an extra 5HP IMO.

That is why I avoided the Fabspeed and EVO aftermarket Air Cleaners and went with X-51 Box, besides I just like the way it looks.
