I myself seem to be in the same predicament, deciding between the Denison and the mObridge, both with their bluetooth adapters.

The mObridge seems the get a lot of praise, not too many bad things said about it as far as I can find. It seems to be a more polished product, but is the most expensive option.

The Denison is a bit cheaper and can seemingly do the same as the mObridge, though some people seem to experience lag when switching songs quickly. Though a BIG plus for me is the USB port, where you can plug a USB drive or thumb-stick into, and not always require an iPod.

Have I missed any other points to help me make a decision? Is there a big difference with their bluetooth adapters?

Thanks!

GraSox, updated cable is in the current kit. If your GW500 has an iPod cable that has a blue end connector at the GW unit, you're good to go. Otherwise, order the updated cable on our site.

We're working on an interesting development on the BTA unit, so those who have experienced the 'echo' issue, we hope to have news soon.

Otherwise, we have a very large installed base of Dension customers, with positive results. Nothing is 100% flawless with fiber optics/electronics, but an R&D effort like Dension's is unmatched.

Thrash, I don't know enough about the new mOb unit as it has not been out for long, but we know the Dension and some other products quite well. Happy to try to answer what I can if you have any other questions.

Greetings 911nojoke,

I've been watching your post daily and noted you hoped to have the unit installed by this time.

I'm also trying to decide between Denison and mObridge - favoring the Denison for two main reasons: Looks like an easy self install without having to remove the PCM or screw with any of my dash components. 2. Eric seems to be a pleasant chap and very helpful and supportive in answering all of my questions,

Couple those points with the prospect of self installation, thus keeping the "installers" out of my car and my wallet, seems to give a substantial edge to Denison. From what I've found the mObridge requires removing the PCM - now why in the world would I want to do that if it can be avoided?

Thus, I'd like to hear what your installation experience has been like and how well have the unit functioned once installed.

Regards,
Jack

Hey Jack, installation was extremely simple. If you are patient and methodical it will still take less than an hour to wire things up. My install was in a C4S which has a different layout from the c2s and caymen, so the tutorials i found (cayman club, renntech, rennlist) weren't directly applicable to my installation but still easy as can be once i wrapped my head around the concept. Also, be aware that Dension simplified the fiber 'wiring' so most of the existing 'walkthroughs' are a little outdated--no custom splicing of fiber cables is necessary now. If anyone has a C4s installation and wants my scribbled wiring diagram and some photos, just let me know.

Also, I needed no reprogramming at the dealership, and i do not have a cd changer installed.

The unit itself works great--sound is perfect. The interface boggled me for a while (and kind of still does) but if you make playlists or like random songs from your library it is perfect. It is fairly tedious to scroll through 500 albums or artists to find something specific, but mobridge is probably similar.

I went without the bluetooth unit, mostly because i have aftermarket exhaust and think my car would be too loud to handle it==i use the jawbone II blutooth headset with my iphone and that works really well.

So yeah, I am very happy with the Dension (and eric), and think it is the way to go. Plus, you can actually order it online and install yrself...

I had the Tooki (NAV-TV) installed recently but had serious echo feedback problem. Went back to Newport audio to fix it - they said it was an iPhone issue! Wow!
Turns out that the volume needed to be turned down...a bit! Works flawlessly!

I think the echo issue is partly the volume being too loud as well as microphone quality. I picked up a better quality microphone that is a third of the size as the one that comes with the unit and have minimized the echo problem quite a bit.

Well folks, after much research I've just placed my order with Eric for the Denison Combo pack. Went to the local Naples Porsche dealer that I purchased my car from and they said the Dension unit is what they have had the best results with. That plus the way Eric has handled all of my questions and his level of frankness and honesty got my money. Will be end of next week before I expect to get the unit, thus hope to install weekend of the 16th August.

911nojoke - I appreciate you input and hope my success with the install mimics your experience.

Jack
