First Anniversary of P-Car Ownership

I just celebrated my first anniversary of Porsche ownership, a '08 C2S, macadamia metallic, Tiptronic, sport chrono, very few other options. It is my first Porsche. I've had a Corvette, and a couple of 300 ZX's. I thought I'd offer a few words about my car, as it might help someone trying to decide to buy their Porsche.

I ordered the car in April 2007, and took delivery of the '08 in August 2007. It was my 60th birthday present. Simply put, I LOVE the car more and more each day. Every morning, even after a year, I go out through the garage as I get the newspaper just so I can look at it for a few minutes. When I'm driving, I rarely play the radio, so that I can hear that burbling Porsche engine sound (no sport exhaust, but cool anyway). I just turned 4,500 miles. I haven't had any complaints or problems with the car. None. Just sheer enjoyment. However, some jealous SOB punched a hole in the side of the rear tire while it was parked at work. $575 for a new tire. I guess I should be glad he (or she) didn't key the paint. I just had the one-year service ($185). My only maintenance costs. According to the car's computer, my MPG immediately increased about 2 MPG after the oil change (from about 17 to 19, mostly city driving). I drive mostly in the normal mode. Sometimes just for fun, I find some open highway, switch to Sport/PASM normal, and enjoy some "spirited" operation (mid-triple digits once. Scared myself silly. I will NOT do that again). The "PASM On" is for me too stiff and jarring. I personally haven't found much use for the Sport Chrono. The only use for me is the different settings in the ignition keys for my wife and I (yes, she drives it every once in a while, hence the Tiptronic.) I probably would have a manual if my wife could drive one (she absolutely refuses to learn). Actually, I like the Tiptronic well enough that it doesn't, for me, detract from the overall enjoyment of the car.

All in all, I can't believe I've had my car for a year already. I guess time really does fly (especially when you're having fun.)

If you're trying to decide on "pulling the trigger." Go for it. Quickly!! It's much later than you think.

Thanks for sharing your story and experience, Vegasguy. I like the part about checking out the car every morning in the garage...I find myself making some excuse to do the same, too!

Drive in good health!

Nice write up, I totally agree with what you said about buying it sooner than later, the following will always be true.
1 Next years model will better (theoretically).
2 Waiting time is time wasted.
3 None of us is getting younger.

Enjoy your car, keep driving it and for some real fun take it to the track (PCA DE).

Attached are some pictures.
As I mentioned in the earlier post, the color is Macadamia Metallic. The pictures probably don't show it, but I get a lot of compliments on the color, when it's seen up close. The other options are power and heated seats, Turbo wheels, and instrument dials in black. Standard biege leather with deviated carpeting.

Beautiful car Vegasguy. I too find myself going to the garage just to look at the car. It's been over a yr for me and I still can't get enough of it!

Nice car and nice writeup. I especially like the deviating carpet.

Macadamia matches your neighborhood well.

Nice write up. It seems very few people drive and enjoy it on a daily basis though. I have had mine for 3 years and its got almost 30k miles on it. I have never driven a vehicle this little in my life but for some reason it seems to be on the high side for porsche . I drive mine daily for work and whatever else I can squeeze in. I love my car more and more each day as well. She is like a girlfriend on the side. I just started to modify it and its starting to get real expensive (supercharger coming up ).
Congratulations on your vehicle anniversary and now go out there and drive that thing.
Cheers!
