we are pampered

man, i went to a local Nissan Dealer today to check out GTR. I've seen a few of them drivining around here in san francisco. Dealer said they don't have one yet. Maybe another two months before they get them.
Now some of you guys complained about some porsche salesmen are rude. When was last time you guys went into nissan, mazda, toyota, chevy , non luxury auto dealers? Stop complaining about rudeness of porsche salesmen. We are all pampered compared to this gangsta type salesmen at the nissan dealer. They need reeducation on proper attire, proper mannerism, and proper english. I felt like I was in an inner city used car lot.

I had a similar experience at a Chevy dealership when the vette was redesigned and I was curious to see it . The guy was not the same descrption as yours but it he was not professional at all . He was older (mid 50's) , sloppy dressed , and appeared like someone who woke up with a hangover .

However --not all moderately priced car dealerships are bad . I know of one Honda dealership that is so professional and considerate that buying a car is an absoilute pleasure from them . In fact they will even beat most area prices right over the phone and deliver the car with the paperwork complete right to your home or job .

I agree, they need better training and education.

Try not to judge the brand based on one dealer, there are good and bad Nissan sales and service just as there are with any brand (and for me it did run the gamut with Porsche as well). In my experience I've run into more jerky sales at BMW/Mini dealers but that is simply because I've been to more of them

By the way, if it was Serramonte they are probably just bitter because of their late certification and allocation status. In any case, with the GT-R I'd circumvent the floor sales guys and go straight to the manager or dealership owner (and I'll bet he'd like to know if his sales guys are less then professional..). Cheers

Seeing as how your "average" car salesperson has little or no post-secondary education and likely very little knowledge of automobiles as well --- where on earth are they to receive the training to transform themselves into polished sales professionals with exemplary manners and vocabularies?

+1, exactly my thought.

Dealers might as well just hire some good looking sales girls to stand around the showroom as this may help the business more...

Don't laugh. I actually tried to buy my wifes Touareg from the receptionist. She was so helpful and knowledgeable I thought she was in sales. Finally got hold of the Sales Manager to find out if he'd let he make the sale. No dice but I suggested to him while she was standing nearby that he could put her to better use on the sales floor and get one of his " typical car salesmen types" to answer the phone.

I was at an Acura dealership not too long ago with a buddy who was looking at a used car. The Sales Manager was a total a-hole, and actually got visibly pissed off when my friend would not give him full asking price for the car (my buddy's offer was a few k below their asking, not out of line for year / condition). The Sales Manager even made some public comment within earshot "why do these people come in here". Um, yeah... responsible people with money? LOL

We both left, understanding now why the dealership was a complete ghost town when we got there.
