977 Carrera Brakes Faded warrenty?

im currently buying a 2007 997 carrera i just tested the car out today and i noticed the brakes were not as strong as i thought they should be the car has 17k on it and its a year old would this be under warranty also the car had been sitting around un driven for awhile could this also be the case. i mean im comparing to my 2008 cayanne which has the most sensitive brakes this felt like the car had no brakes.

Have brake pads inspected . It may be routine wear but at 17K it sounds like the car was driven hard .

Is this a certified vehicle from the dealer? If so, their 100 point inspection includes the tire treadwear and brake pads. If they're below spec. the dealer would have to replace them in order to have the car certified.

There are inherent differences in "brake feel" between a 997 and a Cayenne. I have both. The Cayenne requires less manual effort and input, larger brake assist.
The 997 is a sports car, more effort required but also more feedback to driver.

Go out for a drive somewhere on an open road and stomp your brakes. Hit some twisties. Get used to the feel and effort required to engage the ABS. Your pcar should stop fine and in short order.
Swapping the stock brake lines for stainless braided lines will improve pedal firmness. Still, it may not hurt just for piece of mind's sake to take it in and have it looked at.

brake fluid, brake pads, and tires could all affect the feel of the brake. i'd get this inspected. ur fluid is due for a flush anyways so maybe start with that. chk if the pads are original parts. if it's been tracked by previous owner, maybe he changed it to a race pads which requires pads to be hot to work.

as being said already, cayenne brakes is much more boosted. it also has a 6 piston caliper in front compared to 4 piston on 911.

When I first drove my MY06 I thought that compared to my M3 the brakes on the Porsche were not as good. However I think I was feeling the difference between the sensitivity of the brake pedal. It does require more effort into the brake pedal on the P-car.

BTW I see you live in Tarzana. That is where I grew up. I now live in Sherman Oaks
