White Smoke Question

After I run the car hard on the track I park it until the next session.
Upon start-up, there are huge billows of white smoke coming out of the exhaust, and that lasts for about a full minute. When it first happened a few months ago I thought that perhaps the oil was over-filled, but that is not the case.
Can anyone shed light on what the problem and fix are?
TIA,
Mr. B

Okay, I'm a Noobie here. Haven't owned a P-car in 25 years, or so. And back then they were all air cooled...ainti-freeze wasn't needed. But I'm lurking around, trying to learn a little before I go out and buy the wrong one.

But, to answer your question, if I saw white smoke coming from the tailpipe of my Corvette, the first thing that I would suspect is a blown head gasket and hope that it wasn't a cracked block or cracked heads. White smoke is usually caused by coolant being in the combustion chamber.

Good luck with that one.

Not really.
The car is a CPO with a warranty that runs to 2012.

Do a search. Many report smoke after hard run w no ill effects. A full minute seems too long to me but ....? There is an "oil separator" that can malfunction causing smoke but I would think that would be all the time. Check out the search and report back.

I recall reading somewhere (renntech maybe) tht it's just residual oil buildup after hard running your car then turning it off.
Let it idle for a bit or drive it mellow for a bit before turning off, bet you the white smoke goes away next time you start it.

since it's under warranty might not hurt to take it in anyway, especially if the cooling off trick doesn't help.

I get the same thing after certain track events. I have a lot more white smoke after sessions on tracks with a lot of lateral movement from tight turns. My guess is that the dry sump in the GT3 prevents this problem.

I have had the same issue a few times now at track days.
After a few hard laps, a rest and then a re start white smoke blows for at least 30-40 seconds, then it goes away.
Dont worry, my OPC said it is the oil separators with excess oil burning off.At my service last week they didn't fill the oil to the very top indicator as they usually do (just one bar below to the full indicator). Had a track day on the weekend with absolutely no problems.

That's good info.
Thanks.
My car runs strong on the track, and has no other problems whatsoever.
Only this white smoke issue.
