Where can I buy the RSS Plenum?

I've been reading threads about this plenum that adds 22hp. And I've read as far as there was a dyno war about this a year ago? But.. just got the 997 cab and lovin' it.

I have AWE cats on and will likely throw in a cargraphic medium exhaust (i don't want loud) soon. Needs more power.

I have considered both the VF and TPC FI systems, but the car is a lease and under warranty. If I buy the thing out later, then I'll probably certainly go FI.

But, this plenum mod seems/sounds like it kicks **** for a simple bolt-on. I just have no idea where to buy one.

Someone please point me in right direction. Or, if you got one sitting around, PM me. Or, if you are Mike (the guy who created them as far as I understand from thread-posts)?

Tks,
Jay

I would think there will be plenty of them up for sale second hand. Some very thorough dyno testing showed them to lose power on 997S. This is in line with my own experience. The plenum only stayed on my car for 3 days as it was noticeably slower through the mid range. Restoring the factory plenum put everything back to normal.

so, your personal experience with RSS plenum is that it's a pos?

was it the RSS as asked above or some makeshift one?

i'm looking to move on this and want someone w/ real experience to stop me if this is bad move.

tks,
j

Ian was very involved in the great plenum debate, and I too at the time was going to pull the trigger on one until I saw the results. I haven't installed one and have no interest in one. Ready the RSS Plenum thread and you will see a lot of people have tried them and they failed to produce any noticeable gains, and in some cases have lost power.

Ipd Plenum

Jay,

You can call Greg at Road Sport Supply (RSS) in Costa Mesa they are a sponsor on this site and they can supply you with the IPD plenum.

If you want to prove the IPD plenum will work on your Porsche then install it and drive it, if it makes power and you like it keep it, if not return it for a refund, how can you lose?

IMO the IPD plenum is the best bolt on mod for a N/A Porsche and adds power you can feel and use at any RPM.

What results were you looking at? What type of dyno? There is many kinds of dynos out there, hope you know that much. Every friend I have here that has than on their car has definately noticed more punch and better throtle response. I have a friend with a 997S cab that has one on right now and his car feels more powerful, his testament not mine. Not to mention that I have these pieces on my 996TT and has created more HP. Everyone will post their opinions which is ok. If you don't have it on or have not experienced it physically, I don't think it is cool to post your opinion based on what you have heard only. EVOMS and Proto give thumbs up to this addition to all P cars, so they know something more than you do. Just take this with a grain of salt.

I don't mean to start this debate back up because I lack the time and energy to get a bunch of people riled up and wanting to prove a point.

However, there are clearly 2 sides of the issue.

I can't gauge power based on how the car feel. NA bolt-on's (sans forced inductions) are a mind trick at most if you "feel" something unless you're on at least a V8 block imho. And even then, most people think "just because my car growls louder, then it's faster" which is a hoax. At the same time, basing results on "other people have dyno-ed" or "i've tried and felt" are not true to form either.

Anyone out there who has dyno-ed pre-plenum change and dyno-ed post-plenum change other than obviously the manufacturers, competitors, or affiliates? Maybe an enthusiast who wanted to know for himself and not to prove a point against or for..

Please give input.

Thanks,
Jay

yeah, but he's the one selling the freakin' part.

i'm looking for someone with the thing installed who happened to dyno pre this or pre that and then post this and post that just to know he was getting bang for buck.

kind of an independent third party.

certainly i wouldn't ask vivid, rss, redline, or any other vendors of such plenums to give me unbiased personal data.

anyone out there?

Hi Jay- I just posted my RSS dyno results about two days ago, it is still in the page1 list: RSS plenum gains verified on my 997- dyno results

I have no affiliation with RSS, was just curious what this product would do for my pcar. My dyno results show a verified LOSS of power if I removed it from my car, as far as my car goes it does provide a verifiable gain.
My car is stock with exception of KN intake and AfterHours sport pipes. I ran the dyno tests with stock mufflers and also with AfterHours pipes. All tests clearly showed a solid gain in HP/TQ.

As with any mod and HP/TQ numbers, "YMMV" - A gain shown on one car may not show on another depending on mods, software flashes, condition of engine, person running the dyno, etc.

While I agree there is some debate and obviously there have been varied results, my personal experience with this product and RSS staff (Greg / Mike) has been very good and I am pleased with the results.

Art,

Here is the Dyno Results,

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/1803119-post71.html

and here is the entire thread that the Dyno results were posted in.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ss-plenum.html

This thread was a huge debate and it seemed like it was never going to end. I think that in the end each person will have to be the judge, but gaining 25hp from a simple mod seems like a tall order on a NA car.

I have spoken to Greg at RSS in the past, really nice guy.
