My C2S is in the shop

it's not charging the battery. first replaced battery but still not being charge. Then took to dealer and they swap a new alternator in and still only getting 12.5 volts to the battery. Dealer said the wiring hardness is faulty and has a resistance on it so need to replace. The sucky part is it's the only part that's not cover by CPO so it's 810 bucks out of my pocket for part and labor. They left the new alternator in my car. So i guess its something. this blows. Stupid CPO wasn't comprehensive until august 2008.

I faced a wiring harness with a 95 993 . It's not cheap to repair .
How long has your car been off warranty ? Have you considered :
1) requesting PCNA to "goodwill" the part . After all it was fixed once before .
2) Negotiate labor cost if needed .

Wow I had the same problem and replace the harness and battery (had to pay $160 for the new battery). The warranty on my car runs out next month, before CPO kicks in.

Glad I got it replaced now.

But I bought my car 19 days before August 1 2008, if i would have know i would have waited.

Is there anything else the CPO does not cover that i should worry about? How about RMS?

Mobonic --RMS exists with the 997S but not nearly as common as found in the 996 . I would not worry too much . Do check for oil leak though -even very minor to stay on top of things.

I had exactly the same problem w my 06 C2S. Covered under orig warranty. Total cost was almost $2000 at Bev Hills Porsche. Service rep said this was a Porsche engineering issue, happens VERY often. Might be worth making a few calls/sending emails to Porsche. Worth a try before you spend $810!
